Overnight ambleside central.
Room nice and clean, everything you pay for. Bit noisy in the morning due to bottle bins being emptied but if you want a quiet retreat book outside of town. Convenient booking with no hassles
Great location , good clean value for money
Very convenient location but at the mercy of other guests behaviour.
Convenient and good value for money, nice room with modern en-suite, very pleasant check in staff at the café next door, drawback is that there is no supervision on site, noisy drunk guests in adjoining rooms at 2 am can make getting any sleep a bit of a lottery.
Perhaps we were unlucky on the night, drunks, arguments, and hysterical crying outside our room until 4 am meant we were glad to move on the next day.
Ambleside May 2015
We arrived shortly after 3pm and got out keys from the nearby restaurant.
The man behind the bar was able to direct is towards the car park which was a walk away but was fine as we are mobile. Then we were complety left to our own devices which was great. The room was a decent size and spotless, also it was maintained whilst we were there which was good considering we were only there for 2 nights. It a not for those who want a hotel, but a great place to stay if you know Ambleside and just want a base to explore from. It issue is food - no eating facilities means eating out for every meal which can be expensive.
The room was large and very clean and the hotel was well appointed in the centre of Ambleside.
Really good value for money and we enjoyed the freedom of being able to come and go as we pleased. We will certainly come back, hopefully soon.
Excellent accommodation and pleasant surroundings.
Definitely will be back.
Good in appearance but not experience
I was happy with the look of the room.
It was comfortable and spacious but there were a number of things that were disappointing during the stay. There was a water pump in the bedroom which was in place to take the drain water away, due to the toilet constantly filling, this pump was starting up every few minutes and making a racket during the night. I did contact with hotel manager to report it and he advised me one where to isolate the water supply and the pump. This resolved that issue. The other problem we had was the noise outside the window with people revving cars (Not the hotel's fault). The window also rattled a lot in the wind. Our friends which were in the upstairs room were woken up several times in the night by people in the neighbouring room travelling to the toilet.
For a 1 night fleeting visit to Ambleside this was a brilliant place to stay.
To escape from living out in the Styx in Scotland all we wanted was a nice affordable base to have a nice relaxing stay. We had room 2 which was excellent value, nice comfy bed, warm and ideally situated in the middle of town. I had read a few reviews(mainly from a few years ago) which where not very impressive, but we found that the Ambleside Central was great, the staff very helpful and we ate at the tarantella restaurant right below and that was a lovely meal. We will definitely be back.
Perfect for a few days away in the lake.
Room perfectly described, very clean and cosy, kettle supplies, and tokens left for the hot drinks machine, was a nice touch. Free wifi - so i could keep in touch, and a hot shower. Exactly as needed, and could not be better placed for pubs, restaurants and shops!
