I was looking for a bed for the night and that is what I got.
Better value at the Eurohostel in Glasgow
A wonderful stay, amazing staff and good, clean sleeping.
The proprierots of the Hostel live themselves on the premises.
It's not just a hostel, it's their home - and it shows. They place is bright, airy, clean and generally well maintained.
It's been decorated (in fact, they were in the process of picking out some more decoration when I was there, and one of the guests was offering to help) - e.g. the men's bathroom has its pages covered in comic books for loo reading. There's a codepad entry, a small downstairs lounge with a comfy sofa, a stack of New Scientist, board games, a free snooker table, and a small library as well as a sound system - you won't get bored even if you stay in.
Plenty of sockets are available for recharging gadgets, in the lounge and in the dorms, and there's good Wifi. There's a small kitchen which is free for guests if you want to make your own dinner (fridge is there, too) or just nab some cornflakes and toast. Dormitories, bathrooms and showers are clean. Showers are adjustable with regards to temperature and well maintained. Situated about a 10 minute walk from major metro links in a quiet side road with cafes and little shops, I would recommend this very much. For about 20£ a night, you're more than getting your money's worth. Staff are very polite, welcoming and helpful and happy to give you advice, tell you about the city, or just sit down with a cup of tea and have a chat. Really, very nice people. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
We stayed one night her ,very friendly ,great atmosphere, very clean rooms, fresh bedding , helpful staff
Owners are very friendly.
very clean. Highly recomended!!!
The room had a strong musk smell to it, but I quickly became accustomed to it.
Otherwise, great accomodation
Great for nights out
We were a group of 8, 5 girls and 3 guys.
Went up to newcastle for a messy weekend away. Backpackers was great, the staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, beds were comfy and it's really close to town. Very impressed and would definitely stay here again.
Not a pleasant experience
It was certainly cheap but it wasn't cheerful.
When I arrived I couldn't get into the building which was locked, no one answered the bell outside or the phone. There were 3 suspicious looking men standing outside who made me feel very uncomfortable. After waiting half an hour someone eventually answered to the door, he spoke very little English, had no record of my booking, and I started to feel like I was in a scene from the horror film Hostel. The room was reasonable, although there were no ladders to get to the top bunk beds. The two working showers were filthy, full of hair and dirt. In the kitchen someone's cold kebab from the night before was still on the counter top and the sink was full of washing up. In short, the worst hostel I've ever stayed in. Sorry, I'm only being honest.
