Quality Time
This was a quick break away for myself and my husband, we spent more than we normally would on a B&B but for a special treat, it was worth every penny.
Syon House is beautifully maintained and decorated with chic and quality. Claire, the owner, is very friendly and relaxed and makes a smashing breakfast. The view over the Otter Valley from our bedroom and the terrace where we had breakfast could not be beaten. I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay here and will definitely vist on our next trip to East Devon.

Short break at Syon House
This 3 day short break with my wife at Syon House was exceptional, the accommodation was excellent and the breakfast was nothing but superb, sitting outside in brilliant sunshine looking a the stunning views. Claire was a very welcoming host, who made sure we had everything we needed, the relaxed atmosphere and very comfortable surroundings/faciliities made for a very enjoyable break, we will certainly be going back.

Overnight stay
We arrived late in the afternoon and were able to relax for a few hours on the sun-trap patio with a glass of wine, whilst admiring views of the stunning countryside. Claire, our host, recommended a good local restaurant for dinner and even took the trouble to telephone and book a table for us. Next morning we were treated to a real plateful of good English breakfast, after a comfortable night in a very well appointed room. We will definitely stay again!

Good but could be great.
Syon House is large, airy and comfortable and set in a beautiful landscape with stunning views. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was pleasant with a good, if small, bathroom. The breakfast is very good. The downside is that although it is potentially a great place to stay, it feels unfinished. The room had a very comfortable bed but there was no wardrobe, just a hanging rail which made it feel a bit like a student let. The garden could be fabulous but is just a mown weedy lawn full of rabbit holes. The website is particularly unhelpful and promises “luxurious towelling dressing gowns” which were absent from our room and from our fellow guest’s. It’s still good value but just needs the owner to focus on finishing it and would be great.

faultless
Beautiful gardens open to pastoral landscape, lovely sitting out area. Spotless accommodation to the highest specification. Peaceful and gracious guest lounge. Bedroom had highest quality bedding and furnishings. Breakfast is served round communal large table, one of the features which makes it feel like you have gone to stay with some folks rather than entered a guest house. Excellent quality breakfast and easy going hostess. Room was a little chilly but is was unseasonably cool and I don't like being too hot at night so it didn't bother me. Owner very accommodating. I will def go back. Two pubs serving food are a few minutes walk and the area is lovely.
