Continual disappointment

Unfortunately our stay at estuary Lodge did not match up to the reviews that I read and thus I feel obliged to write a real review on what our 2 day bank holiday stay was like; - Room: we were given room number one.

This is directly next to the entrance to the restaurant and check in/out section. There is also plants placed here meaning that not only did we hear every single person walk past day and night, we had to battle flies and midges entering our room. As for the room itself, I would certainly not call it luxury with outdated bathroom decor and wallpaper in the room. The towels and robes smelt mouldy, damp and unclean, so much so I did not wish to use them. However the room was clean. The amenities only included pg tips and a kit kat..what about green tea etc. The TV was also unable to be viewed from the bed and thus we moved it - however, on return after a day out it was moved back (so cant view tv again) along with movement of all our personal possessions...unimpressed with this invasiveness. This room was CERTAINLY not worthy of £110 per night.

- Location: the location it is a quite nice setting however it did take 40 minutes to drive to mount snowdon which should be mentioned on the website.

- Food: the food at estuary Lodge was very pleasant, such as the burger which was incredible - one of the best I have ever had, (thankfully the burger pulled it back for estuary Lodge or I would have been tempted to refuse to pay). However... a 200ml glass of diet coke was charged at £2.50 and shop bought meringue and fruit dessert and a slice of asdas £1 lemon tart was £4.85 each???. This is very extortionate and over priced.

Breakfast again was pleasant, however the service was not - we asked for toast replacements at both mornings this was forgotten on both occasions whilst we watched others being replaced. Finally - our booking included afternoon tea, however there was no mention of this throughout our check in, stay and check out despite it being clearly printed on their version and ours. This is very very poor service which I felt too uncomfortable to mention. I would not recommend and will not return.

Great find. Will definitely stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay here.

The staff were very helpful. The room was very comfortable, nicely decorated and was extremely well equipped - it even had a fridge (with fresh milk) and a microwave. Breakfast was well cooked with a very good choice of items. TV reception wasn't good when the weather was bad, but this was not a problem for us and the owners have an extensive collection of DVDs to choose from in case of a problem. Wifi was generally good. A great find and we'll be back next time we're in the area.

An excellent, hospitable welcome

A very comfortable, attractive and we'll equipped room.

Lots of extra thoughtful touches to meet a traveller's every need. Add to this friendly service with a smile.

LITTLE GEM IN MIDDLE OF NOWHERE

Booked the 'Lodge' after seeing the reviews.

We were not disappointed, from the time we signed in, till we checked out, you were well treated & made to feel welcome. A well run family owned establishment, well worth it's 4* rating(and better than some other 4* establishments, I've been in). Rooms very nicely decorated, with microwave & fridge installed(nice touch with an actual pint of milk, instead of those horrible milk pots). Food excellent, fresh eggs for breakfast every morning, from their own chickens. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Recommended.
