BBCalamatta is a second floor flat in a typically charming Rome building.
I stayed for four nights with my parter. The rooms are basic, but they are clean and professionally run with en suite bathroom, plenty of storage space, TV, full length mirror, windows that open over a quiet courtyard. The location is superb - just yards from Rome's stunning parliament building, and the river is just round the corner. Breakfast is available all morning, which we found very convenient, and is from a smart coffee shop on the next street. A tasty fresh Italian coffee and pastry - which is the traditional Italian way to start the day - though a bigger breakfast is available for a small additional fee.
The owner Valerio gave us a map and extensive recommendations for all the major attractions, what to do and where to eat. This really enhanced our stay as it was our first time in Rome, and we felt a huge benefit from his local knowledge.
For the location and the price, I don't think you'd get any better. It's perfect for a short - or longer - break. We can't wait to return to this enchanting city, and we wouldn't hesitate to stay at BBCalamatta again.
close to most of rome attractions and Valerio very helpful when it came to directions and tips for places to eat
Fantastic location, helpful host
The location of this b&b is great with so much on your doorstep.
The room and bathroom were spotless, and the simple breakfast was served to our room. The owner is incredibly helpful with really useful advice and hints - even down to the best place to get pistachio ice cream.
Best thing about this B&B was it's proximity to all of the major tourist sites and the helpfulness of Valerio our host .
Nothing was too much trouble.
There was a mix-up with the accommodation provided but a solution was found. If you book a double room for 2 single beds then 1 of those beds will be a folding bed which is comfortable but has no headboard and is very low
The advantage of this accommodation is the convenience to major Rome sights, including Vatican City.
Valerio, the proprietor, was extremely helpful. The towels were of exceptional quality, and the constant hot water was also a plus. Two friends and I were allocated the apartment, which was not what we booked, and I had to go through their bedroom to get to the bathroom. However the price was reduced, and being good friends made this inconvenience easier. We would recommend it.
