Reviews - Ees Wyke Country House

5AA Assessed Hotel Ratings explained
Near Sawrey, Hawkshead, Ambleside, LA22 0JZ
Ees Wyke is an elegant and comfortable Georgian country house set on high ground in Near Sawrey, the home of Beatrix Potter, that nestles in the peaceful Vale of Esthwaite. Most rooms have stunning views across Esthwaite water and the fells beyond including the Langdale Pikes, Coniston Old Man and the fells and woodland of Grizedale Forest. This is, and we are biased, the best side of Lake Windermere! There are many walks from the house from easy to slightly more challenging - Moss Eccles Tarn, Wray, Caiffe Heights and Latterbarrow to name a few. It is an ideal location from which to walk or tour the Lake District. Ees Wyke is easily found on the B5285 between Hawkshead and the Windermere ferry Spacious, comfortable, accommodation is provided in eight rooms each equipped to meet the needs of the most demanding modern traveller. Sumptuous Lakeland breakfasts and a daily five course menu offers choice featuring much local produce. The cuisine and accommodation of Ees Wyke are recommended in both the Good Food and Good Hotel Guides. Comment and commendation may also be found in The Which? Hotel Guide and the Automobile Association where awards have been made for dinner and breakfast

Superb views and excellent accommodation
Beautiful part of the lakes, we travel regularly into the lakes for walking and biking weekends, this has to be one of our favourite locations. Accommodation was excellent, breakfast outstanding and the security awesome (2 great English Sheepdogs!!).
The room had every comfort and the peace and tranquility was wonderful - great value.

Good break
Excellent cuisine. Many small details around the hotel have been carefully thought about and can be enjoyed by the discerning client (and who knows, maybe we didn't discern them all!). Situated at the quiet end of a quiet village this is a place to come and unwind.

Beautiful View
The setting of the hotel was amazing, the views stunning, so tranquil. However, once inside I found the hotel to be a miss mash of period and modern with decor that appeared tired and dated. The size of the room was very good but it looked as if it had had half a makeover with the soft furnishing having been updated while the walls hadn't been redecorated in many a year. They just didn't seem to go together. Quite disappointing.
