Reviews - The George & Dragon

3Self Classified Bed and Breakfast Ratings explained
52 STANSHALLS LANE , BRISTOL, BS40 9UL
We would like to give you a warm welcome to The George and Dragon country pub.

The George & Dragon is a 16th Century Grade 2 listed coaching house situated just 2 minutes from Bristol International Airport.

The George & Dragon was originally built as a cross passage house circa 1575. Around 1625 the house was developed into a coaching house and was a main stopping point for travellers going to and from the south of England.

Being just 2 minutes from Bristol International Airport and serving a full menu throughout the day, the George & Dragon is ideally situated for the departing or arriving traveller. We are also only 20 minutes from Bristol and 35 minutes from Bath.

Light entertainment Fridays and Saturdays, lots of events and exhibitions throughout the year.

Being the village pub, we have locally brewed real ales and cider and a wide range of soft drinks, beers and spirits.

Beware paying for breakfast!!
As with other reviews for this hotel I went to have breakfast which I paid for the previous night only to find the place in darkness. It wasn't as if I was early. I think 08.15 was a reasonable time.
I had to leave the key in the room and lock door behind me as still no sign of anyone at 09.20
I called the hotel later to complain and after giving my card details they said they would refund the cost of the breakfast.Almost two weeks later and no refund so I guess the refund won't be coming!!

Wouldn't stay here again
Although the room was clean and comfortable we had paid extra for breakfast and ordered it for 8.30am. When we got up the place was in darkness, despite knocking and all the doors and looking through windows we couldn't see any signs of life. (It was raining so we also got pretty wet while trying to get in). We waited 15 minutes and tried again but ended up having to post our key through the letterbox and leave to find breakfast elsewhere. Definitely wouldn't use this place again.

Could be better
We were only given 2 towels, there was no bath mat,had to use hand soap to shower with as we were issued with 1 small bottle of shower gel. The room had to be prepared whilst we waited in the pub ! Hmm need for good communication between laterooms and hotels!!! Overall good service! Will use it again!

don't bother
This pub was supposed to be bed and breakfast, there was nowhere to hang clothes there were no towel rails in the bathroom, on the first morning the pub was closed when we got up at 9:00 so we got no breakfast had to go into Bristol to eat. No hot water. We ate at this pub on the evening we arrived, and the meal was good, all in all wouldn't recommend.
