Relaxing Lake District retreat

Stayed here for 2 nights during a bank holiday weekend at the end of summer.

Hosts were fantastic in terms of accommodating our late arrival time due to transit getting there and for suggesting activities to do and providing directions whilst in the area.

The property is nestled far back a country lane and is located near a public trail that you can use to explore for some outdoor fun. Excellent no-nonsense experience and a perfect way to disconnect from the connectedness that take over modern life.

Very disappointing

We paid £85 per night for a small, cramped room with nowhere to put things down.

The room was small, dark and full of rugs, pictures, and bits and pieces. There was no wardrobe - just an alcove with a dark curtain over it. The bathroom had no bath - just a shower. It was described as a superior room but there was nothing superior about it. My advice is don't go there at that price.

Lovely stay in a beautiful building with so much character, bed was very comfy, breakfast fab and hosts lovely, even helping us out when our walk we started ended a long way from the car!Definitely stay here again.

A quiet retreat

Friendly hosts, excellent food, beautiful surroundings and a comfortable room.

Hidden away at the end of a single track lane, Sockbridge Mill offers everything we wanted for a quiet few days away. Debbie and Gary we great hosts, and their home is a delight. Would recommend to anyone.

Off the beaten track, with birdsong, original art and a beautifully restored mill to inspire you.

And a most hospitable welcome.

Idyllic pastoral setting

Delightful Debbie and Gary, the owners and talented artists as well as long time residents of the beautifully redecorated mill house were delightful to get to know a bit...we loved the quality and furnishings, many of which were imported from Nepal.

Friendly atmosphere right from the beginning. Next time we stay in the north of Cumbria, we'll definitely book the Sockbridge Mill B & B!
