We all had a warm welcome, and every aspect of our stay was enjoyable
The Red Lion Pub
Most helpful staff I have seen in a long time.
The Red Lion Pub
Not the best value for money pub grub, but reasonably happy with everything else.
24 hours in Skipton
The pub is very old and charming.
It looks like a popular local watering hole. We were greeted by two friendly bar staff, one of which took us to the family room. This has two amazingly comfy King Size beds. My mum took one and I bunked up with teenage daughter. We had bags of room, and a modern bathroom suite. The room is at the front which overlooks the high street. Fridays are market days and the traders had set up by the time we pulled our selves out of the incredibly hard to leave beds. I can say we weren't disturbed by the traders. Breakfast was a full English, cereal and toast (yummy bread) on offer too. Highly recommend and would return.
Great location, nice pub to eat and drink in.
The breakfast was fantastic.
Great location in the center of Skipton.
Stayed with two Young children in the family room and they had a ball. Nice big bathroom with bath, nice comfortable room. Staff seemed very helpful and friendly. Only slight complaint was the noise of the market being set up early in the morning but that can't be helped. Would definitely rerecommend it and would be happy to stay again.
Extremely good and friendly service.
Lovely food. Generous staff
Lovely break (again..)
Stayed at the Red Lion for the night.
Room was very nice and staff are very attentive. The food is basic but ok. A little noisy but to be expected staying over a busy pub, will definitely stay here again.
We booked to stay at the Red Lion as a last minute break away with many places fully booked.
We are regular visitors to Skipton and have stayed at the Red Lion before (some time ago) and found it to be very clean but basic (and quite noisy which is to be expected staying above a pub). However, on this visit we stayed in room 2 which was a decent size, very clean (huge bed!) and not as basic as we had expected, a very pleasant surprise. On top of that, the staff welcome and customer service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble and far exceeded our expectations. The option to swap breakfast for an evening meal from the menu is an excellent idea as we are not breakfast people and this provided fab value for money. We will definitely be staying here again and it will now be a first place to check availability rather than a last resort. Although it was a little noisy, it was not excessive and we really enjoyed our stay. As stated, the attitude of the staff makes it worth a stay on it's own, very very impressed.
Great last minute break
Booked for a last minute break after being let down by De Vere earlier in the month (allowed to book a room at a hotel where both the restaurant are bar are closed!).
Shown straight to our room by very helpful manager (sorry, forgot your name) which had just been refurbished. Lovely decoration and really comfy beds. Only mark down was because of plaster dust on bathroom floor due to towel rail just being installed. Ate in pub at night, nice enough, nothing special. Were reassured by manager later on when fire alarm went off due to a moron letting off a smoke bomb on his way home. Nice breakfast in morning, sausages need a bit of attention though. Having previously stayed at the Woolly Sheep and Herriots Hotels in Skipton, would pick to stay here over those as better value for money.
