Nice apartment, but management is a shambles.

After another apartment cancelled our stay, we booked this as a backup, we called in the morning to say what time we would be coming, and called 3 times after to check they would meet us in the afternoon, we waited for 2 hours in an alleyway, as there is no reception, check in was supposed to be early afternoon, by the time we got inside, we found the room was not even cleaned, so had to wait even longer, finally after it was cleaned and the day was nearly done, we found there was no plates,bowls etc.

we had to wait another hour for this. a total shambles really. also no phone reception and no wifi, and a loud constant humming noise. Having said all that, the actual apartment is nice and spacious though will definitely not stay again.

Better accommodation available for same money

We were travelling up on a freezing evening from London for a 2 night stay and we were told to call half an hour before we arrived.

We duly did this and we're told someone would be there to meet us and give us the keys and show us around etc. we were also told the 10 pound a night parking would not be available now so when we arrived we had to use the 26 pound a night multi-story car park behind the building. Anyway when we got there there was no one waiting for us. We waited with our suitcases on the pavement outside the building and it was absolutely freezing cold. We waited a further 10 min and still no one turned up . We called the owner who didn't seem very bothered and someone was coming. So we wait another 20 min and still no one comes. We ring him again and he says the original person now can't come so someone else is coming on a bicycle.... 20 min later and after several more phone calls none of which proffer any concern or apologies a young man turns up on a bike. We've been waiting in freezing cold now for over half an hour , he says hello but doesn't apologise and disappears into a cupboard with his bike for another 5 mins. When we finally get in there is a pair of someone's old trousers in the drawers in the bedroom and another drawer has lots of mould in it. Anyway after he leaves we realise the wifi does not work. By this time I'm so happy just to be warm I forget about it til the morning. The next day I let the owner know the wifi does not work, yet again he offers no apology says someone must have changed the password and I should try logging into the neighbours wifi with the same password. This does not work and the wifi did not work the whole time I was there so I could not do any work. He made no effort to compensate us, sort the problem out or even apologise. To top it all on the last day 2 cleaners let themselves in to our apartment an hour before checkout. They did not knock or ring the bell or use the intercom they just unlocked the door with a key and came in where I discovered them whilst I was half naked. Considering how expensive this place is I would never go back. We were treated badly and you couldn't pay me to go back there.

Not worth the price

The room was nice dont get me wrong, although definetly not worth £160 for a single night.

2 rooms of which one contains the bedroom livingroom and kitchen.. which included a dining room table which the room was not big enough for. i recoment this place although only if you can get it for a much cheaper price. To me this place was more worth £80 max per night, only because of the location and not the room itself.

Nice apartment in handy location but let down by smoke

I stayed at Onety-one on business for a couple of days in October 2014.

It was perfect location for where I was working the other side of the grafton centre. I called the number provided 30 minutes before I got there and met with the guy who provided the keys and walked we through the apartment, no problems there. The apartment was nice and modern but I feel I was let down a little by a couple of things. First of all it smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. It's a real shame as it was very clean and tidy but there is definitely smoking going on in there. The other is I felt that it should have included a couple of more things. I have stayed in other similar apartments around Cambridge and they provided milk, coffee, sugar, cereals etc but this only had some teabags. I also found the sofa very uncomfortable. I would recommend this based on location and the fact it's tidy and modern etc but personally I can't stand that stale cigerette smell and I feel it is slightly over-priced compared to similar, better apartments around. I was in apartment number 8 on the 2nd floor. Also if you want the parking, you need to pay in cash to the guy who you meet for the keys at £10 per night. This should be made clear on booking as I rarely carry cash on me these days.

Lovely apartment - but check the small print

The apartment itself was modern, tastefully decorated and had a quality feel to all furnishings.

The bed was comfy and there was a well-equiped kitchen with all the essentials including fridge, cooker, kettle and utensils. Tea bags were provided but no coffee (there's a Tesco just round the corner, though). I must admit I didn't check the small print very well, but you need to call 30 mins before your arrival so someone can meet you there with the keys, unless you enjoy hanging around a side-road looking shady like I did, as there's no front-desk. Also be aware that it says 'Marino Apartments', not 'Onety One' on the building which added to the confusion. Would definitely recommend.

posh interieur - shows neglect

We stayed for one night in the apartment.

Unfortunately the basin in the bathroom was completely blocked, so that we had to brush our teeth over the bath tub. In the kitchen the curtains were not hung properly, half of it could not be pulled . The whole apartment had been done up with posh wallpaper and a porcellanosa basin - why is basic maintenance then so completely neglected. Apart from that excellent location.

Onety-one too many mistakes

Firstly I have to say that the apartment was in a great location and it was failry modern with a lovely bathroom and reasonable lounge and kitchen.

Our first problem arose when we were due to park the car in their secure car park. The person meeting us was late and we had to phone them to ask when they would be arriving. We also discovered that there was plenty of parking on the surrounding streets so we cancelled the secure parking. This was going to be charged at £10 per day which we thought was very greedy.

We were shown to our apartment only to discover that although we had booked a Kingsize bed it was a double bed in the room. After numerous phone calls and a wait of nearly an hour the owner eventually turned up. Hans (the owner) explained that there were no rooms advertised with a kingsize bed as all of the rooms were doubles. After a quick look up on our i-phones we could quite clearly see that the apartment was advertised on Late Rooms as being a Kingsize. We showed Hans the online ad and he then claimed this was a mistake. We then mentioned that we were going to look for other accommodation as this was unacceptable. The weird thing is that after this he suddenly declared that a Kingsize apartment was available after all...............hmmm strange that as we thought that there were no Kingsize apartments??. We then moved rooms only to discover that although the bed was a kingsize the bedroom itself, with all of the blinds closed, was lit up like the O2 arena. The blinds may as well not have been there as they let so much sun into the room. We complained immediately that we did not relish the prospect of being woken up at 4am with the sun beaming down on us as we lay in our beds. I do have to applaud Hans as he did his very best to resolve the problem. They do need to look into installing black out blinds as I can see from other reviews that this is an issue. Take note that you will have to take your own milk and coffee with you as there was none provided in the room which was a shame. My last passing comment would be to keep the chain on the front door. Although we had a checkout time of 11.00 am we had a cleaner attempt to force his way into the apartment at 09:00. Luckily the chain was on. I told the guy in no uncertain terms that the least he could have done was to knock instead of trying to barge in.

All in all if they resolve the above mentioned problems this would be a very nice apartment to stay in. Was it worth over £160 a night. Most certainly not and I would not use them again.

Broken Bed

Standard studio flat, starting to look, as many now do, a little worn, but easily walkable to town.

Local Tesco doesn't sell alcohol. However when something as fundamental as the bed is broken, it is not much of a place to stay. What was worse was that someone had clearly tried to 'repair' the bed using parcel tape to a broken main spar, so the bed looked fine until you got into it and then collapsed into a v shape with the middle on the floor...hilarious. What can you do when this happens at 1130 pm. An email to the letting company has gone unanswered for 4 weeks, which has to sum up how they view their clients.

Nice little apartment, good location although not too clean

I stayed with my boyfriend one night in the room.

It was actually a little new brand apartment. Very well equiped also not too clean. I even found a dusty shock from the last guest behind one chair. The place was obviously not have been clean for a while.We also waited for the keys almost one hour and it was freezing, so not too nice. The guy was very helpful and friendly, that was good. The location is great, near supermarkets, cafés, and about 10 mins walk from the places anyone would like to visit in Cambridge. In general, what we had for the £130 we paid was quite reasonable. I would probably stay there again if I'm back to Cambridge.
