Wonderful stay, hope to return in the future
I stayed at the Hotel La Tour with my boyfriend in November 2015.
Customer service was second to none and our stay was very enjoyable. I hope to return again soon in the near future. Highly recommended.
visit to Brum
La Tour hotel is just outside the main drag of hotels and a little walk to the shopping centre.
We visited The Hippodrome and had a taxi from the hotel to take us there - cost £5, to come back £10 because we had to be taken around the one way system.
The rooms are as seen on the website but are showing signs of wear and tear, they are dark due to the one way shaded glass and our room looked out, and almost, into flats opposite and the shops below (not good). No natural light and no windows to open you will be relying on the air conditioning to cool the room. The bathroom has no window and is dark , all in all a dark depressing experience. Facilities in the room accommodates modern technology allowing the charging of all sorts of devices. The bed is large and comfortable and 2 small bottles of water are supplied free of charge. The coffee and tea provided are cheap and uninspiring.
The reception area is impressive with oversized everything from chairs to artificial flowers. The endorsement of Marco Pierre White is everywhere (videos in the lift, posters on Wales etc etc) a menus for the restaurant is in the room for your perusal and appears to be very expensive and reports from friends who have visited ranged from over priced, bad service and food not good to never again. We visit Birmingham quite often and can say we will not stay here again preferring to be closer to the centre. Parking charges are prohibitive and although the hotel advises that you can park in Self ridges car park for £7 a visit it is quite a hike from there to the hotel especially if it's raining.
As frequent visitors to Birmingham, we decided to try a hotel we have not stayed at before.
We were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The decor and hotel interior was lovely, clean and bright. We would have loved to have eaten at Marco Pierre White's Chophouse restaurant in the evening, the menu looked great. But we were unfortunately delayed on our afternoon out, so maybe next time. We did have breakfast there though which was good. Have already recommended to family and friends.
Third time I've visited this hotel and I'm never dissapointed.
The hotel has a real feel of luxury with touch screen room controls and a personalised phone and television. Beautifully decorated with amazing bathrooms. Even the reception area has a real wow factor. Breakfast was amazing to. Only thing is the price of food and drink. Don't think it value for money to dine there if your staying a while but great value if your treating yourself!
Having arrived at 14-30 I was not too happy that I had to pay £10 to park the car for the day and then another £5 to park overnight, I would have thought that at the most I would have just paid for the overnight even though having paid for the room I did not think I should have paid for parking as well.
Also I have stayed in many hotels around the world and I have never ever had to pay for room service, having been asked to pay I think £7 to have ice delivered to the room is absolutely scandalous, suffice to say that I will think twice before using this hotel again.
Lovely hotel. Very friendly helpful staff
We stayed for one night.
The room was really nice, big comfortable bed. Only comment I have is website states £10 parking for 24 hours but it was actually £15. Please update your website
Excellent stay 100% recommend
The room was fantastic (Picture don't do it justice).
You can pipe sound from the TV to the bathroom so listening to music while getting ready is superb. The hotel was spotless and modern and the staff was very helpful and kind. We didn't eat in for dinner or breakfast but we've heard they're very satisfactory. We'll be coming back next time we're in the city!
The hotel was really comfortable and well designed and felt like the quality hotel it is.
The service was superb and cannot fault any of them. The only problem i had was the room we upgraded to was on the fifth floor and was really good apart from being kept awake all night with the noise of the extraction plant or air conditioning. It wasnt a loud noise just a hum of the plant working which really spoilt my visit and prevented me from sleeping. Maybe should have not gone for the upgrade and may not have heard it.
Service was good, staff very polite and respectful, food was amazing and defiantly worth the price, room was very high tech and cleaned to a high standard.
Would 100% stay again and next time bring more people.
Quality time with daughter
Thought this was v.good standard on every level - staff were excellent and SMILED!
