Great place to stay

Everything went well during our stay.

The breakfast, although described as Continental, was more enjoyable because of all the fruit on offer. Cannot find fault with it. If there was any constructive criticism, the it would concern the lack of WiFi in the bedrooms.

Response from hotel

Thank you for taking time to review Brathay Lodge, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us.

Kind regards,

One night stay at Brathay Lodge in Ambleside

Just booked a one night stay for my friend and myself on the spur of the moment.

Hotel was in a very convenient spot (close to shops and eating places) and above all had parking. We got there at 11 am and although we could only book in at 3pm the man at reception gave us a key and said ok to leave our car and explore. He told us where the bus stop was (just a short walk up the road) and we set off to Windermere and then on to Bowness (bus service was frequent and punctual). We got back to hotel and looked in the "recommended places to eat" book at the hotel. We chose the White Lion pub in Ambleside and it did not disappoint. Food was fresh and tasty and prices reasonable and was nearby. We had a twin room (number 2) on ground floor which was adequate for our needs. Breakfast was, as advertised, continental style, plenty of choice but I would have liked a full English. We were supposed to book out at 10 am but lady said it was ok to leave car in car park as we wanted to catch a bus to Grasmere and Keswick and didn't want to hurry back, very kind. I would recommend this hotel and the man and woman (hoteliers) at reception were very helpful.

A great place to be for my first stay in the Lakes !

We were allocated one of the rooms on the ground floor at the side of the lodge and it was great - easily accessible, clean, warm and although it was at the side of the main road and by the car park, it was still very private.

Stayed on a business trip but had packed waking boots for a late afternoon trek into Langdale.

Had stayed once before in 2009 and hotel was just as good. Clean and well looked after this is a great place for business or pleasure. No cooked breakfast but don't let that put you off as what was on offer was great and a much healthier alternative. Plenty of parking which is a bonus in Ambleside. Booked again for my next meeting in two weeks time!

Very pleasant stay.

Good choice of food for the continental breakfast. Only place where we have stayed where you are able to take hot food takeaways back to. Rooms clean and tidy. Staff really friendly. Would stay again.

Mini break at Bowness and Ambleside 28th July to 29th July.

We found the hotel to be friendly, very professionally run and the proprietor was knowledge of local events, places to see.The accommodation was excellent the whirlpool bath was particularly a relaxing treat. The bed was comfortable and the room of ample size for a couple.I would highly recommend this hotel situated in a beautiful location and with ample free parking yet close to Ambleside shops.
