Reviews - Mullacott Farm

4Visit England Assessed Bed and Breakfast Ratings explained
Mullacott Farm, Mullacott Cross, , Ilfracombe, EX34 8NA
All the bedrooms have a double and a single bed, and are en-suite, with a toilet, basin and shower. They are tastefully decorated, in a simple country cottage theme. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor, with stable doors leading out onto the patio, where there is substantial wooden garden furniture, where you can enjoy an evening drink and while away the time. Upstairs are a further four bedrooms, which have retained the original character of the building, with exposed beams. Two of these rooms are adjoining with a connecting door. With the other two having a double and two single beds each. All of the bedrooms are well appointed with colour television, clock radio, a tea and coffee hospitality tray, hairdryer, plenty of storage space, and a comfortable seating area, with chairs and table. Swallow Barn is a No Smoking building. Alison and Adrian, Caroline and Bryan have been running hotels for many years, in Somerset and Bournemouth. Alison is a trained chef, and has worked in the catering industry since she left school. We all hold food hygiene certificates. The farmhouse breakfast is served in the country dining room, downstairs. On the dresser, for you to help yourself, will be a selection of popular breakfast cereals, grapefruit segments, prunes and orange juice. We will serve you with your hot drink selection, which may be tea, coffee, hot chocolate, decaffeinated tea and coffee or herbal teas. The cooked breakfast can be any combination of the traditional English breakfast. We have our sausages made, from our own pork. The bacon is cured and sliced on the farm. The eggs come from our own free-range hens or ducks, and can be fried poached or scrambled, the choice is yours. The tomatoes come from our greenhouse (when in season), the bread is home made, as is the jam and marmalade for your toast. Alternatively, we do offer kippers, if ordered the night before.

Only good to say about our stay
First time experience of B & B. Room serviced during b'fast and available during day as & when we wanted to be there. We didn't expect this so made stay much more pleasant. Smashing terrace (although weather not good enough for us to sit out much). Host family could not do more to make out stay enjoyable. Even a fridge for guests to keep chilled items cool. We're used to self catering so eating out every night became tedious. Can't recommend highly enough. thanks to all for a great week with lovely cooked breakfasts each day.

Great place to stay - very helpful
If you're getting an early boat to Lundy this is a very convenient, good value for money place to stay. A taxi to the harbour was £7.50 (2014).

A lovely place to stay
Swallow barn is more like self contained accomodation rather than a traditional 'stay in someones home' b&b. Your own front door key and the freedom to come and go as you please is a real bonus. A warm welcome ,comfortable, clean spacious room and en suite. Excellent breakfast. Easy access to Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and other lovely beaches.

Ilfracombe area 2 night stay
Chose this accomodation because it had good reviews and was on the side of Ilfracombe to give easier access to Croyde, Mortehoe, Woolacombe, Barnstaple, etc. No regrets whatsoever as it had good parking, was quiet and had a nice patio area with sunshade, etc, ideal for reading, etc. Wish we would have booked a further night instead of moving on.

An excellent B&B with large clean ensuite rooms and a good breakfast
We were made very welcome and found the accommodation generous and very clean. we had to leave early but were still served a full breakfast of our choice. A well placed, quiet, converted barn B&B

b&b on a cute farm near to the sea.
Room was really big and homely - great value for money.
The family who ran it were just lovely.
