Great value in Truro
Despite one reviewer thinking the Carlton looked down on Late Rooms guests, we found all the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment, and some parts do look in need of this, but it didn't affect our stay.
Our room was quiet, clean, bright and comfortable. The only downside was the brightness lasting all night because of the thin curtains! Even my trusty eye-mask reinforced with blackout lining couldn't keep it dark enough to sleep well. On the plus side, it was wonderful to see the sun with so much rain everywhere else in Cornwall. We had a great day out in Falmouth and beyond using the train and ferry, and Truro itself is a compact and pleasant city to explore.
Breakfast was very tasty, with friendly, prompt service. Free wi-fi worked well. The location is only 10 minutes walk from the town centre, however it is on quite a steep hill. All in all, very pleased to have stayed here, and would enjoy going back to experience the Carlton Hotel's completely refurbished state, and with a blackout blind at the bedroom window!

Room without window
The room did not have a window that we could see out of. It was a loft window which was rather uncomfortable, did not want to be in the room except for sleeping. Bed very creaky and noisy.
