What a gem!
Was looking for a B&B up in the Highlands for a 2 night stay, stumbled across Wildhaven and was amazed to find a 2 person 'self catering cottage' for much the same price as a B&B ... looked at the Laterooms page for it and was seriously impressed with what I saw. This place is a gem. You get a large well equipped kitchen overlooking the pond, gardens, chooks, geese and ducks (and sometimes penny the owners dog, who is soooo friendly!)... large lounge with stunning views from every window, very comfortable reclining sofas, tv, hi fi, dvd player. Large extremely comfortable bedroom (with the most cosy cloud like duvet!), two massive double cupboards, dresser with mirror, hairdryer, and a stunning view (and black out blinds for the summer months when at 11pm its still light!)... bathroom with large shower, and small bottles of shower gel, towels and toilet paper... (not all self catering places supply toilet paper and towels!), large hallway with writing desk, deck with table and chairs plus further table and chairs on a patio area. The bungalow is split into two so the owners are 'attached' next door, but Mairi is the most lovely hostess and is very much there if you need her, want a chat or any ideas on where to go, but doesn't intrude otherwise. There are maps and booklets in the lounge, including an OS map for the area as well as one on the wall in the hallway. We actually ended up staying four nights, we loved the place so much. The surrounding countryside is amazingly beautiful and being just a couple of miles from the A9 makes it ideal for touring. There are also some gorgeous B roads to take around and about to avoid the tourist traps... well worth doing! The bungalow is up a dirt track but its easily accessible for any car. We will absolutely be back...
