More of a hostel but clean rooms, helpful staff (even if they aren't onsite) and excellent wifi!
I had read previous reviews that the guesthouse looked like a row of council houses in the middle of an estate, so I guess I knew what to expect but I still felt a little uneasy as I arrived, a female on my own, in the dark. I had to phone for the owner to drive over to let me in; I felt uneasier that it wasn't manned. I was surprised I had to share a shower room and toilet, but as the owner pointed out, the website hadn't indicated an ensuite. I felt nervous about walking round the local chinese takeaway for my tea through the estate in the dark but it was ok (the chinese was possibly the worst I've ever had though). I managed to lock myself out of my room; the owner came straight out and moved me into another room and was very good about the situation. He brought me a bedside lamp on request, otherwise there was only the one, bright ceiling light. I was told I would have to order breakfast, but at £10 I declined and instead bought some cereal from the local co-op. In the end, I had a good sleep and would probably stay again now I know what to expect. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anything other than a business stay though. The customer service was very good, I even got a thoughtful text the next morning to be careful as it was icy out!

value for money
I was on a business trip and the free use of wifi and cheap price for a nice warm bed for the night was just the ticket for me, will use again.

OK
I've stayed before so happy to go back. No frills. Small room with shared shower and toilet. Bonus having a fridge and microwave in this room. Down side the bed base had broken in the middle and the mattress was way past its sell by date. I was comfortable enough because I was really tired but a decent bed should be a given. Nice welcome as last time.

Bury Guest House October 2012
I stayed for one night after a long drive.Room was nice and clean and very warm! Only problem is that there is only one toilet which is downstairs along with the shower. Not a big problem for me but for others it may be. Would stay over again. Good value for money.
