4Self Classified Guest House Ratings explained
74, Maple Leaf Drive Marston Green, Solihull, Birmingham, B37 7JB
FREE Wi-Fi • FREE MINI-BAR • FREE PARKING • FREE À LA CARTE BREAKFAST
Welcome to Arden House...a boutique hotel offering quintessentially English country guest house hospitality in a semi-rural location; the epitome of a modern luxury bed and breakfast near the National Exhibition Centre (NEC). It is ideal for busy executives requiring quick access to the business world, and just as handy for visitors to Birmingham and Stratford Upon Avon. Arden House is the closest luxury guest house to the NEC , Birmingham International Airport and Birmingham International (Rail) Station...just 1.5 miles away.

TAKE A BREAK FROM THE SANITISED CORPORATE HOTEL CHAINS AND EXPERIENCE THE DIFFERENCE!

Sometimes referred to as a 'Shakespearean retreat', the house is inspired by William Shakespeare's great literary works: there is even an oak panelled library dedicated to the bard's works, life and times. Read, socialise or take tea. We offer our guests luxury rooms designed and inspired by one of Shakespeare’s characters, as is evident in the Hamlet, Macbeth, Portia, Capulet, Cordelia and Othello Rooms.

Each bedroom is furnished with high quality mattresses and pillows, white Egyptian cotton bedding, hairdryers, 32” Flat screen TV’s and a guest tray featuring quality 'fairtrade' beverages. Each room also boasts a complimentary mini bar with waters, soft drinks and snacks absolutely free... at no extra cost…now that is unusual. Oh, and of course, there is free wI-fI throughout as well free parking.

As you would expect, all our rooms have en- suites with fluffy towels, bath robes and toiletries. In keeping with our eco policy, (more of that in your welcome pack!) bath tubs are replaced with showers.

Complimentary Breakfast - overlooking the pleasant garden is our breakfast room. Our menu has a variety of cooked options as well as continental. Our bread is baked locally (less than a mile away) and sliced by us. Our eggs are free range and our ingredients are sourced locally from British farms.
Arden House has an elegant, warm and cosy feel, with super friendly staff just waiting to greet you and prove to you that they are better than you could have imagined.
We hope to see you soon……

Nice spacious room, comfy bed and welcoming attitude. TV was very small and the shower could do with an upgrade. Unfortunately they didn't provide dinner but recommended an array of places near by. Breakfast was great with a wide choice- cooked offered too.
Would stay again. Very convenient location.

VERY DISAPPOINTING
Well placed for NEC. Staff helpful. Room fairly clean. This is not a boutique hotel but a glorified bed and breakfast. Very basic. Very expensive. Said the mini bar was free but there was no mini bar just a packet of cheese quavers, kit kat, pepsi and bottle of water. Even tho I told them I can't eat cheese or chocolate! Said they could make me an evening meal for £15.00 - very bad meal! However, the breakfast was very good. Was unable to open the window in my room. Got a crick in my neck watching the TV. Nothing was sealed i.e. soap, shower gel, biscuits etc. The room was very basic and not luxury as advertised. Expected to pay at reception when leaving but there was no-one on the desk just an envelope with my name and receipt inside. Very unprofessional.

Want a Hotelier to bend over backwards? Then stay at Arden House!
Amazingly friendly welcome and very helpful.
Being offered a lift to the nearest restaurant is THE best customer service I have ever experienced in a hotel.
A free mini bar (NOT booze) was also a wonderful surprise, although if your reading this I have kind of ruined the surprise...Doh!
Comfortable bed and lovely fresh decoration was another of the many great points of my one night stay in the Arden House.
If I had one small criticism it would be that in my room (Macbeth, all rooms named after Shakespeare characters) the shower seemed to go from 'hotter then the Sun' to 'colder than the Arctic' without any adjustment at all. I am guessing this is just a water pressure thing when others are also using the water.
Now to the highlight. Breakfast!!! What can I say? I haven't had such a delightful start to the day in a Hotel for many years. At first I was unsure about trying Smoker Kippers for breakfast (Full Scottish option) but they are an amazing discovery that I will be repeating at home in the very near future.
Overall (apart from the shower) a top class 100% excellent stay. I WILL be back next year.

Its a B&B albeit top quality but right at the top end of pricing and for me maybe £15-20 too expensive.
Couldnt fault the quality of decor etc and my complaints such as they are may seem picky but as I considered I was paying the very top price for a B&B then I want the very highest standards.
The bedroom, Porticia, was tidy, good sized, well decorated and clean.
The work area was a bit cramped and the 2 sockets which the hotel claim are in a position above the work area so no fumbling was negated by the absence of a light over the work area.
However free WIFI an absolute plus.
The mini-bar with complimentary soft drink, crisps and chocolate biscuits as well as the standard tea/coffee tray almost merits the top end pricing.
The bed was very comfortable although the hotel succumbs to the inevitable cushions and pillows that are thrown onto the floor so one can actually get into the bed.
The en-suite was beautiful, spacious and clean. I personally dont like these wash basins that sit like a Wok and this one was a bit high. My major complaint with the bathroom was the size of the bath towel. Many places get this wrong but a bath/shower towel should comfortably cover ones personage. This one didn't and I'm not a large person.
Breakfast was very good apart from one strange omission - no bacon!. However it would be churlish to make this a major issue as everything else was superb.
A truly quality establishment with very friendly and helpful hosts. The personally produced eating guide in the room was a lovely touch. I just can't quite get away from a B&B that costsalmost £70!!
