Convenient and functional with a warm welcome
Well situated accommodation with a friendly warm welcome. Room functional and clean. Well priced for a single traveller on business in London. A good nights sleep was had. Single room (number 9ground floor) was small but as described on the website but had everything that you needed for a overnight stay. Limited car parking but plenty on road parking immediately outside guesthouse. Continental breakfast available in your room if required.

Small room but nice
The room is very small but clean and has everything for your basic needs. The walls are very thin so you do hear everything. The temperature gauge on my shower was hard to adjust so I had a very hot shower. The guesthouse is decorated very pleasantly overall.

Single room
Friendly welcome. Small room but well presented. Bed was extremely comfortable and ensuite shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. Would have liked breakfast if not in the room, with options other than only continental.

Small but very clean room ensuite very small, but just about does it's job. Stayed in room 7 on the ground floor with a French door onto the garden, which was very nice for sitting out with a cup of tea in the morning, however lost some privacy and charm as people did often sit outside the room in front of the French doors for smoke and chat during the night and early morning... quite loud at times, almost like these people were in the room with us.

A fantastic stop over
The Oak Lodge Guest House was a great place to stay. the décor and general appearance was fantastic, the room was clean tidy and comfortable, the owner was very friendly and nothing seemed to much to ask. It confirms that a well run independent hotel is far and away better than chains ever can be.

Tiny room, not clean, thin walls - better off going to travellodge
First Impression was not great. It looks nice from the outside but it said on the description "off road parking" and yes there is for one or two cars (the guest house has 19 rooms). I didn't want to park in the drive in fear of someone else parking the drive and blocking me in.
The reception and the hall ways all looked perfectly fine and the chap at the desk was friendly. however, the halls did smell of smoke most of the time from people standing at the back door smoking.
First impression of the room was that it was tiny. It was the width of the door frame and a single bed. the walls were so thin you could hear the person in the room next door roll over in bed. The sheets and towels all were clean and fresh. However, the sink and shower looked like they had not been cleaned in weeks.
I was only expecting a basic room for £50 but there is a minimum level of standards one would expect anywhere. i.e. smoke free and clean.
I would have really preferred to stay in a travel lodge. I won't be making another booking.

Small isn’t always good
I booked a single room with en-suite and was decidedly unimpressed. Room was tiny – even by single room standards. Imagine a corridor with a bed in it and you get the idea. Bed at end nearest door, chest of drawers a bit further down with TV on top, bathroom in raised area at end of room, with a tiny sink opposite. No chair, no desk. Bathroom small but serviceable, with a good shower; high step to get in and out of bathroom. Sink was not in bathroom but in bedroom – it was so small that even cleaning teeth at it was difficult! Chest of drawers storage, but only small open rail in room for hanging clothes. Right next to outside smoking area, so smell of cigarette smoke constantly drifting in as well. WiFi was free but I ended up having to use 4G because it was so intermittent and slow, at one point telling me that owner hadn’t paid the bill! Coffee making facilities difficult as kettle had to be plugged in and boiled on floor as plug for TV too high for cable, and only floor-level sockets available otherwise. Parking – only room to get two vehicles into hotel frontage, which isn’t anywhere near enough for size. Free on-street parking nearby however. Had to nag repeatedly to get a VAT receipt – after asking three times got it on morning of departure at around 0030...
