not ideal

The staff was not terribly helpful - I was unable to check-in to our flight online so I asked them to help determine which terminal we needed and the front desk guy basically just stared at me.

The wifi was super expensive and our phones didn't have service... so, we were basically out of luck. We inquired about the shuttle which we were told was expensive and takes 40 minutes so we should just get a taxi. When we got up and downstairs to call the taxi they said I needed to know the terminal. They FINALLY looked it up for us and called us a taxi which took 15 minutes to arrive. The 7 minute ride to the airport then cost us 18 pounds (we were told it would be 10).

Helpful reception

Flights cancelled meaning arrival was a day later.

Not a problem to change, early checkin arranged. Would stay again.

Holiday Inn

Although, I only stayed the one night the hotel staff were very attentive and the bed comfortable and the room warm.

Hotel doesn't look particularly "interesting" from the outside, but inside is good and the rooms are excellent.

Poor Breakfast

At check in they couldn't find my reservation, after some tweaking with my name I suddenly popped up in the system.

I offered my customer card several time which was ignored by the lady. When I asked for the internet she asked me if I was a Club member. Upon receipt of the voucher I tried to log on on the internet. The access point noted on the voucher wasn't found by neither my laptop nor my tablet. The only way to access was through a payable access point. The next morning at the breakfast there was nobody to show me my table and inform me about the options or serve me any coffee, I had to find my own way. The breakfast itself was of poor quality, the fried eggs were cold like the bacon, black pudding and the sausages. As a result the bacon was like shoe soles, the sausages leathery and the black pudding crumbly. All in all an breakfast you don't expect and especially not against such a price!. I scored some coffee in the lounge where thermos flasks were put up for the guests.

cheap - but flawed

Lift broken, could hear a family screaming blue murder at each other in hindi for most of the night, no sign of hotel intervention.

shower knob hard to move and arranged so that a dribble of scalding water hits your wrist as you try to turn it off. room temperature control that ignores your request for 16 deg and reverts to 23deg. Nice food, but breakfast was charged as extra. Staff insist that you sit at a table that feels as exposed as the middle of a dancefloor. TV adequate, but still has only 20% of the channels that any UK resident gets free to air.
