Anniversary stay

Myself and my partner stayed here for our anniversary.

Upon arrival we were shown to our room which was immaculate and very pretty. The owner advised us on the best places to go for a drink and also where to eat although we had already booked a restaurant. Breakfast in the morning was made to order and we were asked what time we would like it.

A really welcoming host

We couldn't have asked for a better welcome.

Tracey, our host, was very friendly and made us feel totally at home. I had phoned ahead to check that we would be ok with checking in as we were at the mercy of the trains and the guest house advertises a 4-5pm check-in time. Tracey was very accommodating and it was no bother. My mother and I had a weekend here to look around the castle and gardens and the guest house is in such a great location, just over the road from the gardens, a 10 min walk to the castle and plenty of food options though we did find it was best to book those in advance. The breakfast was wonderful and set us up well for the day with a range of cereal, fruit and cooked options. There was genuine warmth from our host and her assistant as well as plenty of conversation.

My partner and I stayed at this Bed and Breakfast for a short break and found it to be one of the best establishments of its type we have stayed in, The room was spotlessly clean and Tracy and her staff were extremely helpful and friendly offering great service and an excellent breakfast on each morning of our stay.

Castle Gate Guest House

Accommodation was good but the on site parking was only for a very short car and it left my car overhanging the footpath by about 2 feet not good for the walkers and illegal for me

Home from Home

Lovely accommodation, ideally situated, very relaxed, very welcoming, very clean, lovely breakfast, very friendly.

Our room was absolutely lovely and very comfortable. Our friends said their bedroom and ensuite was a bit on the small side but from what we saw most rooms were large, beautifully decorated and comfortable. We would certainly stay there again if in that area

Castle Gate Guest House

Everything at Castle Gate was very good the room was clean and tidy although the bathroom was a little small.

Tracy the owner is a very nice lady and nothing was to much trouble to her. She cooked an excellent breakfast with a good choice of food.

Great location, amazing breakfast

Our room was small but lovely.

We had a view on the garden so it was very quiet. The breakfast was absolutely delicious.

Castle Gate Guest House, Alnwick.

After a long journey from Cornwall we found the accommodation and staff to be excellent, food was wonderful, it was ideal for us as we only stayed for one night, but if we stayed any longer we would ask to be moved, as the bathroom was a little small.

The accommodation was very central to Alnwick and ideal for spending the day sight seeing.

Really lovely, friendly Guest House

I was a single traveller but had the family room on the ground floor, so lots of space.

Beautiful décor, a really comfy bed and a particularly beautifully smelling room. Could have done without the alarm clock going off at midnight (think it was the default), so a little tip to anyone staying there – either set it for the time you want waking, or just unplug it.

Breakfast was excellent, in a room with a relaxed atmosphere, the radio on the kitchen and the staff chatting away to each other and to guests – not the kind of awkward, stilted silence that often happens in B&Bs during breakfast. Tracy was a really friendly host. It felt almost as if I was being welcomed into a family home, which I really liked.
