33% would recommend it to a friend
Toilets smelt like a urinal, I couldn't sleep due to the noise of trains, there were no cooking utensils in the kitchen.
I would never stay there again. I had to shower at a friend's hotel.
A Horrible Place
The pictures of this hostel do not bear out in reality.
The pictures look good but the hostel is a dump. Avoid it.
Avoid like the plague
Broken windows, run down building, no parking on site, as advertised, £5 extra for parking away from the hostel.
Disgusting customer service. Will never stay here again
Stay at northfields
The room was basic no tv but its a hostel so your not looking for luxury.
This is definitely for people on a budget
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
We also felt safe at this place. The link to London City via tube was across the street, very good. We enjoyed this stay.
Quite noisy, very cheap
This was great value at only 16GBP but but very basic, as you would expect.
I had a bed in a (lockable) shared room of 4 beds. Only one other guy turned up so it was quieter than it could have been. The toilets and showers were along the corridor shared with other similar rooms. It's next to the railway line (my dormitory was on the north side of the building) so train noise was audible up to midnight and from 5 am. The room was very warm (heating was on), so shutting the window was not an option, otherwise the secondary glazing system might have reduced the noise. The curtains were just netting so it was light from early morning. All the valuables lockers in the basement were already taken. The showers had muddy footprints in the dry area. So, take earplugs, eyemask and flipflops and be prepared to sleep with your wallet, phone, passport and keys under your pillow.
It does what it needs to and for the money and convenience it's almost ideal
This was never going to be a luxurious stay.
I decided to pay £40 for a single (turned out to be twin) room with a shared bathroom and was offered an en-suite room for an additional £40... I would not pay £80 for this place. The welcome, service and location are all great and so I have no complaint. I knew what it was when I booked. The 'shared bathroom' was a line of 4 shower cubicles in the basement with decreasing height, all of which were littered with hair and shower gel and given the minimal water pressure from the shower head it was impossible to do anything about it. It did what I needed it to and being 30 seconds from a Zone 3 station and with free on street parking - the closest to central London from the M4 its convenience cannot be overlooked.
You get what you pay for and a little less
Well presented (ish) at the front reception and ground floor in overall but upstairs in another story.
Mess leaving scattered on the corridor. Roaches in the kitchen. Dingy and disturbing shared basement shower.
This hostel is more aligned for those who are regular hostel attendees that are not looking for comfort or a bit of luxury.
its basic and just to get by. cleanliness in the washrooms is not a priority, and showers are more like a borstal. I had to stay here for convenience and last minute arrangements, but there are many other nicer places that are available for the price I paid for a single room. Otherwise room was warm, and staff are friendly.
It was as good as a hostel can be
I didn't choose the place for quality.
It was a low cost hostel. A room with 5 beds in it. The gentleman at the reception was very nice and courteous. The location was very clean. The beds were very squeeky and one side of the building was next to a very busy train line. all in all, if it is a hostel you are after, it seemed quite well.
