Reviews - The George At Nunney Ltd

3Self Classified Hotel Ratings explained
Church Street, Nunney, , Frome, BA11 4LW
The George at Nunney is a 17th century coaching inn with newly renovated bar, restaurant and hotel facilities facing the 14th century Nunney Castle. The village of Nunney has been described as one of the prettiest in England, with a stream and brook rolling through the village, sandstone houses and the picturesque Nunney Church. The hotel overlooks the brook and waterfall and the moated Castle. Our hotel has a long history of welcoming guests to its roaring fires, fine dining and good local ales. Our beautiful and relaxing bar offers a selection of traditional ales as well as an extensive wine list, imported beers and non-alcoholic beverages. The lounge area, with its comfy sofas, serves freshly brewed coffee, teas and other hot beverages as well as cream teas throughout the day and is an ideal location to meet up with friends, colleagues or clients. The newly renovated restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and provides locally sourced seasonal favourites executed by Head Chef Mark Jones and his team. There are lunch and dinner menu specials and a selection of delicious puddings and Somerset cheeses. Sunday lunch - including fabulous rare Aberdeen Angus beef - attracts devotees from far and wide, with reservations strongly recommended.

Value for money
Room quite basic and in need of some updating ie handles came off bedside cabinet, carpet worn.
The shower was a ridiculous size barely could get in and out if it there was so little space!!
The room was not worth the £75.00 per night being charged

Lovely stay in the sunshine
The George at Nunney was a great place to stay. My boyfriend and I stayed there overnight because we went to concert in nearby Frome. The welcome at the hotel was warm and welcoming. The room itself was at the top of the building and unfortunately was really hot as it was a warm day. We had all the windows open all night, but the owners had kindly provided a fan, which meant we got a comfortable nights sleep. The bar and garden was beautiful and perfect to have drinks in on a summers evening - don't miss it! Breakfast was also fantastic. The young guy serving was helpful and attentive, and the food was brilliant.

A pub with everything - Plus a Castle
Didn't even know that Nunney existed until I found Late Rooms. com but what a joy. A quiet picturesque village with a castle, medieval church and a Pub. The George at Nunney has (by reference to early posts) been transformed. It is clean, tidy, friendly, welcoming and an ideal centre for exploring. The food was very good and the menu varied. Don't just rely on their website menu because the 'Specials' are a lot more interesting and change almost on a daily basis. We stayed there for the four nights and would certainly return.

Lovely location
Views of the castle from our room! Nunney is a quiet country village with a ruined castle and lovely church. The George is a great place to relax, nice bar and garden. Room was spotless with comfortable bed, large sofa, big T.V. and nice ensuite. Staff very friendly food was good.

Our stay at The George
The George at Nunney is definitely a place I would be happy to stay at again and have plans already to go back this year, at least once more! The staff were very friendly and attentive without being overpowering. The facilities were good with little extras such as toiletries available if required. My friend and I stayed on a Sunday evening and had a meal in the restaurant with the food being excellent. The bar and restaurant have been refurbished recently to a very high standard, retaininng some original features but adding some modern influences. Breakfast was served in a lovely room with self serve cereals, fruits and yogurts etc. The cooked breakfast were delicious especially the mushrooms! I would recommend The George at Nunney without hesitation.
