Holland Hall - Uni of Exeter.
Superb as a student let - functional for an overnight visit. Clean and tidy - bathroom small and towels well used. Breakfast was top notch - plenty of choice and good quality.

Exeter halls
Great value for money. Simple clean rooms. We had 2 rooms with a double bed in each. If we had to share the bed it would have been quite small. Breakfast excellent.

Holland Hall is Excellent value!!
Arrived VERY late, (2am) but estate security kindly let me in. Room was well appointed, but no tv, however there was Internet via cable. Tired anyway so didn't use either.
There is a bar on campus so there are creature comforts and activities.
You must remember that these are halls of residence during term time, so not a hotel, but for a warm, comfortable, clean ensuite room in lovely surroundings with great views, I would challenge anyone to find better for the £43 a night fee. Well done Exeter!

Not as hyped up as advertised
I checked out the afternoon before the morning I was supposed to depart: noisy, unable to sleep due to rock hard bed, people pulling suitcases constantly on the paving stones below which caused an annoying sound in the room upstairs on the 8th floor. They did not clean the room in the 3 days I was there. i did not get any wi-fi or wasn't offered any. Tried to get reception and thier phone constantly rejeceted my calls until I gave up and left as no one at reception when I needed them. At one time a female was there but the queue was so long I did not have the time to wait. I handed in my keys on the Sunday afternoon and she did not even bat an eyelid, took the keys off me and threw it into a pile to her right. She made no attempt to enquire how was my stay and I thought it was useless telling her, as the queue was also that long. The batroom was horrendous, actually a wet rooom with very slow water output and a plastc shower curtain that was clingng to my body throughout. There was a paper mat rather that a wooly bath mat which was pointless as it was drenched with water before I even got out of the bath.
Never stay there again...a money making scheme. Stayed at Holland Hall - saw that he was a vice-chancellor at the University in a painting in the reception area and I feel sorry that his name is falling into disrepute now due to these numerous poor quality accomodation reviews. Wish I can get a refund but absolutely not from these .....

Great value campus accommodation
Well above average for campus accommodation, in lovely grounds and with stunning views. Well worth seeing the magnificent new £48m Forum at the heart of the campus too! Some things are mildly inconvenient: - getting a wi-fi password seemed needlessly bureaucratic and getting to your room can involve two pass numbers and a key all of which you need to keep about you. All that could fairly easily be streamlined. And beware of a 9th floor room: the views are great but there's no lift! It's not very common to find a double bed in a university room, so that was welcome.
I will be staying again!

Exeter Uni / lovely grounds to explore
I've stayed before ,so found Holland Hall easily this time. The usual summer mix of conference guests and young people's / sports groups. It's on a hilly site & the views across the River Exe to countryside are lovely. The grounds offer relaxing walks away from the bustle of the city and a good breakfast is provided in a spacious dining room. Down side is having to haul luggage around the blocks, too few lifts and the bar being closed when I stayed ,I understand guests have to request the bar to be open on booking with the university !

ManagementResponse

Thank you for your review. We were pleased to hear that you have chosen to stay at Holland Hall again. With regards to the bar I’m afraid it is only opened during the vacations for large events that have pre-booked it.

1. The Uni building was difficult to find.
2. The breakfast was not easy for diabetics (all the usual cereals contain sugar), I needed raw porridge flakes.
The scrambled egg, beans and coffee were not very hot.
But overall I felt the breakfast was probably good for the majority of people.

ManagementResponse

Thank you for your feedback. We have addressed your first comment and further details are now provided on the booking confirmation e-mails. With regards to breakfast items we will address this with our operational team.

Exeter University- Holland Hall
Great for those who are attending a graduation. Very convenient to town and all conveniences.
Two small gripes - one which it is difficult to do much about. I had a room at the front of the building and with taxis and parties arriving all night I had very little sleep. The second "grouse" is that the mattress was extremely uncomfortable.
However leaving those aside I would thoroughly recommend staying at the halls during vacation times- and the breakfast is just amazing
