A lovely stay
A lovely big house and, as it wasn't busy, we felt like we were the only ones there. Our two young sons stayed in a next door room and we also had a comfy lounge - it felt like our very own wing of the house! The housekeeper was our point of contact and she couldn't have been more helpful. The selection of continental breakfast brought was amazing, she had gone to so much trouble especially as she was keen for our boys to have something to eat they liked.
Earlier reviews mentioned a 'dated decor' but that, for us, is the charm of staying in an older house. Everywhere was clean and we'd definitely return. With so many different rooms I should think it would be perfect for a group of friends who want to stay in the same location for a few nights.

Didn't even stay!
Booked a suite. No reception or staff present. Two keys, 1 for back door to building, 1 for bedroom only, so no way of locking suite door to communal area! Two bedrooms upstairs that we're being slept in accessed from our suite! Filthy, filthy room, bathroom unmentionable, shocking experience! We didn't even stay, phoned and booked a local hotel and stayed there instead!

24hours of how the other half live!! Fantastic
Having advised LateRooms we would arrive at 8pm, we received a call from the proprietors at 2 minutes to, asking if we could find the location and guiding us to our rooms. We had 2 rooms with a jack and jill bathroom, perfect for us and our 2 year old. We had the whole building to ourselves so spent time relaxing with a cup of tea and the days newspapers in one of the sitting rooms. There were DVD's and games galore in the cupboard as well as reading material we could have stayed a week to get through. Sitting our daughter on the throne in the toilet unnerved her - but made a wonderful memory for us. The whole house was luxurious.
Waking in the morning to a relaxing swim before cereals, croissants and toast - this made for a wonderful night of escapism which is what we were after! We had relaxed so much, we had forgotten to look for the jacuzzi and steam room. Never mind, next time ...
