Never again will we book with Laterooms!
on arrival we were told that the accommodation hadn't been paid for.
I called Laterooms at 6am following morning and was assured that you would call hotel to sort out. On checkout still hadn't sorted 20 minutes on phone to Laterooms meaning I was late for meeting. Very bad will not book through you again!
Village Hotel Nottingham
Had a brilliant time with the family for a wedding that I attended but the alcohol was expensive as well.
3rd party booking - beware
Used to stay here regularly, the hotel has everything, in terms of good accommodation, great gym facilities, good in room wifi, good breakfast choice/price.
On this occasion it was not so great. Upon check in- was advised that as I had booked through a 3rd party I could not use the gym facility without paying a supplement. I checked my booking and this information is printed very small and in the 'other/additional information section'
Also within the late rooms booking page online this information is not clearly posted. Also as I had made an pre-paid room booking I could not add it to the room under one invoice
After this - the receptionist commented that did I want to book in for the restaurant and for breakfast. I decided that I would take my business elsewhere for an evening meal and breakfast - so for the sake of a £5 surcharge to use the gym, I gave £40 of business to other local companies. In terms of the room, I was very disappointed, coffee and tea making facilities were the bare minimum (was it because I was a third party booking?)
Didn't help that the television in the room didn't have good signal, limited channels and the remote control did not work at all. In room internet was flaky and regularly dropped out. The shower/bath diverter did not work correctly and only half the water ever came out of the shower also a fraction of a turn of the tap meant the difference between an ice bath and a scalding. Upon check-out ask if everything was ok, I advised of the tv remote and stated that the rest was adequate. Used to think that the village hotels were the benchmark, but times have moved on with the change in policy to treat 3rd party booking different to direct bookings - its time to find another hotel to use in the Nottingham area. Oh, and did I mention the problem with parking there. Clearly the gym is very busy with locals (possibly why the surcharge is in place with 3rd party bookings to reduce the numbers) - there is never any parking spaces in the hotel upon arrival in the evening if you get their between 5-9pm.
How can they charge so much for basic accommodation?
The quality of this hotel is appalling given the price we paid.
It's a basic tired 3* hotel yet the price tag suggests a much better hotel.
Large room - made it too cold
The room was really clean, the bathroom as well which is always good but because the room was a family room with just me in it, it was really cold.
Also, the walk to the room kind of negated the need to go to the gym !. ;-)
Staff were lovely and really pleased that the guy on reception let me use the leisure facilities even though I booked through Late Rooms - apparently booking via Late Rooms doesn't give you access usually. I mentioned that it was the main reason I booked that hotel and I wasn't aware of the restriction.
Wouldn't rush back
The bed was extremely uncomfortable as were the pillows.
There were lots of dead spiders in the room. The rooms above were extremely noisy it sounded like a herd of elephants. The only good thing was the breakfast although it was very busy and extremely noisy.
Overall not to bad, excellent gym and good room
Excellent food in the pub.
However price in the grill very expensive and also 10% saved on upgrade was cancelled out by the 10% service charge added on in the restaurant. Pool lovely as was the sauna and Jacuzzi.
VILLAGE URBAN RESORT Nottingham
Not bad for the money, hotel like a maze and no floor plans at entry/exit points, pillows very hard and curtains not black out so woken at 4AM.
Bar staff seemed to be overworked and food took 50 minutes to arrive, however the bar manageress was lovely and offered a choice of gratuities. All in it was a good hotel with the pool and the bar it was set up like a bit of party hotel which is pretty cool as it had some atmosphere, definitely would go again.
Exceptional value - very friendly
I had a few minor niggles with my stay but given the friendliness of the staff and the great value (£69 B&B for 2 people) I didn't think they should affect the score.
I was also impressed that they phoned before my stay to see if I had any requirements they should be aware of. Minor comments - I had to wait over 1.5hrs for a pillow to be delivered to my room as there was only one on the bed, the window couldn't be opened for cool air as there was an air-conditioning unit running outside on the roof all night and also there was a disco in the main building which went on until approx. 11.30. None of which would normally have bothered me except I was particularly after an early night after a busy day and these things prevented it.
