LSE Halls are hard to fault

I came to LSE High Holborn with no expectations but was excited to be staying in the heart of the West End at a very reasonable price.

If the accomodation was not first class I was not going to worry I was however very impressed with the whole operation. It is clean and secure, the facilities are fine (everything works!) the staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet is nothing short of miraculous for this price a majority of cheap hotels (and I've stayed at them!) would not provide this

Typical student digs, perfect for a short trip

The room was a typical student room, similar to one I stayed in at uni.

It wasn't totally clean; there was a small bit of litter under the second bed (for some reason, a single room had two single beds in it though they barely fit). The shared toilet and shower were clean and functional. The location was great, and I managed to get a decent night's sleep. If you're expecting high quality you'll be disappointed, but if you take the room knowing it's a student room most of the year then you'll be happy with it.

Pleasantly surprised

I was in London for a study workshop so the single room was perfect.

Its in a magnificent location in Shaftesbury avenue, theatre land. The rooms are organised in flats of 6, with a shared toilet, shower and kitchen. I could have done with a shower cap as the above head shower always soaked my hair. A larger towel would have been good to take as the shower cubicle is down the corridor.

Ideal for my trip

I arrived before the check in time with the intent of leaving my bag (as I was off to work), which I was able to do (bag left in a dedicated luggage room with a very helpful gent).

Returned to check in after 11pm and the young guy on the desk couldn't have been more helpful, even coming with me to retrieve my bag.

Quality hall of residence available in collage summer break.

Very tidy and efficient, secure accommodation, good internet, helpful staff, fantastic location, good continental style breakfast.

Just a pity it's occupied by students and not available to the general public for most of the year.

A cheap overnight stay in town.

The location is very central.

I arrived late and was given a warm and informative welcome. I slept well. The rooms were quiet and the corridors secure - each small area had its own key code. The only downside was that the shower was scalding hot - I couldn't stand in it.

It's utilitarian, student accommodation. Not a hotel but fine for an overnight stay.

Noisy and uncomfortable

I stayed recently at LSE Northumberland Avenue, and it couldn't have been more different (Northumberland Ave was good).

I accept that it is student accommodation, so basic. I was disappointed that it wasn't en-suite (I had thought it was) but that wasn't the real problem. The bed was massively uncomfortable; but more to the point the noise from the road was terrible. It's in London, so you expect busy, but not to feel as though you are sleeping on the road. This is the first time I have written a bad review; but this was awful.

Great price good location lovely breakfast great for students

Room was basic but had everything I needed wardrobe, desk bed, bedside table lots of storage I was only staying one day.

Also had a sink in my room. Did not like the shower facilities was not that great and clean due to others using it and leaving it a mess. But I had a great night sleep breakfast was continental but great variety. Loads of fresh fruit such as bananas pineapple, apples, plums and more, cereal toast with lots of toppings, yoghurt, pancakes etc. If you want to stay in london it's a great price you pay for what you get basic but convenient.
