Nice rooms but walls were a bit thin so you could hear noise from others rooms
Stone House Hotel - a Bespoke Hotel
It was a lovely, we both had a good time with beautiful food and an overall good experience.
Very tired and understaffed hotel.
The hotel could do with a refurb, it is not terribly clean in the way that older hotels tend to be.
It's dusty and could do with a good deep clean and more modern decor. The hotel is understaffed, particularly the restaurant. The staff were swamped at breakfast and it took 50 minutes for the food to come. When it did arrive it was of a poor standard, little care had gone into it's presentation. I ordered smoked haddock and poached egg so the plate arrived swimming in hot water. The buffet area was ransacked and as the staff were so stretched no one replenished it.
It took 30 minutes to be brought tea and a further 10 minutes for a glass of water.
The staff need support, it looks as though there is no manager in place and they are all frantically trying to cope shorthanded. I actually felt quite sorry for the young waiters/waitresses as they were completely unable to cope.
This was our Golden Wedding family coming together.
Very mixed service from reception desk. Bad organisation for a hotel of this quality. Rooms very good. Food of good quality and plenty of it. Did not know how to serve afternoon tea for a group.
Nice hotel for the money
Me and my brother stayed here the night before my wedding.
Was a nice, clean room and the beds were comfortable. Only fault was that we had a wet room and no bath. When having a shower the water leaked underneath the door to wet carpet. Breakfast in the morning was lovely with good service. When we came to check out, another guested had charged drinks and food to our room. Did not need that hassle hours before my wedding but was cleared up quickly and staff apologised. Would stay again.
Friendly and welcoming, quiet and comfortable, good value.
Would stay again.
Disappointing and in need of a complete overhaul
Reception Staff pleasant and helpful and arranged a taxi Room smelled fusty, and was dated and basic.
Bedsheets although clean smelled stale
The room has a mahogany TV stand that is now used as a tea caddy.. Not bespoke at all and very disappointing compared to how advertised. Breakfast the next morning was cooked well
However staff serving were inexperienced and there seemed no order as to who they approached. The stay was for a wedding at Moddershall oaks, the couple had considered the stone house but were put off in a similar way to me in terms of how dated and slightly disorganised the place was. It's a shame as with some modernisation it has real potential
Stone House Hotel - a Bespoke Hotel
Only thing I was disappointed with was when I booked I chose to include meals for me.my wife and 2 children and when I arrived they told me it was only the adult meals that were included so I did feel cheated.
A nice hotel with excellent food and lovely gardens.
Unfortunately it was raining during our stay and we couldn't make the most of the garden that we had direct access to from our room. Room was a little worn out and in need of renovation but clean and comfortable.
Very Good Value, charming hotel
Considering it is listed as a 3* hotel it certainly exceeded expectations - I believe the hotel has been undergoing a refurb - although I didn't experience any disturbance or see workmen, my room may have been recently updated which was very clean and comfortable with an excellent bathroom possibly not all are at that standard yet.
