What a lovely stay.
Host Michelle is very helpful, welcoming and friendly. The B&B is gorgeous and warm. My room was perfect with a very comfy bed and a beautiful bathroom. And I wasn't even staying in the luxury bit. Couldn't recommend enough.
A warm friendly welcome - and a lot of laughs
If you want a break close to Bamburgh and other Northumberland beauty spots in a unique and historical building this is the place.
The owner was very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was delicious. We stayed in the room upstairs which was very comfortable but next time we'd stay in the luxurious suite downstairs.
Nothing too much trouble. Room very comfortable with an exceptional bed. Property placed centrally for the castles and beaches.
An old quaint station house.
An excellent two night stay here.
A great welcome to the house by the owner Michelle. A huge room with all the coffee making facilities plus a fridge, chocolate on arrival and fresh fruit laid on ( which we took with us on days out). A gorgeous bathroom with roll top bath and a separate shower. Michelle even sorted out a taxi driver for us for our night out. It was like having your own personal driver for the night. Excellent breakfast even though it was just the full English but all other breakfasts were offered to us. A few people comment on the train track soo close but this wasn't an issue as if you did hear them they had passed after 3 seconds. A well sound proofed old house. A great stay here , and somewhere to lay your head before venturing out to a gorgeous part of the country. Thanks Michelle. And thanks for my wife's present you gave her when leaving.
Very good old fashioned B&B
The Old Station House is a very good old fashioned B&B.
The owners are always about to answer any questions you may have. They provide plenty of company, tea making facilities, fruit and water. The breakfast is very good. As the house is quite old it needs some modernisation but apart from that it is very comfortable. If you love going back in time then you will love this B&B.
An 'out of the ordinary' gem
I chose this B&B a) because of its location to Bamburgh and b) I was fascinated with it being an old railway station on the East Coast Mainline.
The owners (and particularly the hostess) have gone out of their way to think of everything. Fresh fruit in the room, bathrobes, etc. etc. all make this place stand out, plus they can't do enough to help. Bed, Bathroom and Breakfast all first rate. The building is old, and so properly built, such that the train noise is not a problem (although it was a shame for me, that I couldn't watch the trains from our room - wife pleased though lol). In the past two years we have stayed in very run-of-the-mill B&B's nearby so it was a real pleasure finding a B&B with character and quality, run by a couple who've thought of everything and obviously care. Would I stay there again. You bet!
Quirky rural stopover
Concerned about access - gateway between sharp bends and gate always closed.
No heating until September, even on colder days or in bathroom, so stone walls made it feel slightly damp. Very welcoming hostess keen to offer advice and assistance at all times and likes to chat. Complimentary fruit bowl, chocolates, milk and water along with a selection of teas, coffee, drinking choc. Unique decor. Fantastic bed. Huge TV plus DVDs. Free wifi.
Wonderful find of a bed and breakfast!
We stayed for 2 nights in the cottage room, and had a wonderful time.
The owner, Michelle, made us feel very much at home and was a fount of knowledge on the surrounding areas and places to go off the tourist trail. The breakfasts came highly recommend, both from other reviewers and the local taxi driver. Very tasty. The bnb itself is very rich in history and keeps some really interesting features. It is next to the train line, however no trains ran past us after 10pm and even during the day you quickly got used to them. Nice little touches with fruit bowl, fresh milk for tea and coffee and chocolates. We loved the open fire too, and were provided with some wood to build this ourselves, which was lovely and warm after being out in the early hours to star gaze (we saw so many shootibg stars!). We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Northumberland!
Old Station House B&B
Brilliant hostess, couldn't have been more helpful and kind.
Fantastic breakfast, not the usual cheap sausages in an oil slick. Great room with a massive bed, huge bath and shower, loads of little personal touches. To top it all off Gizmo the dog was a star. Very highly recommended.
