The White House is a delightful 15th Century Grade II listed manor house set in one acre of attractive gardens providing a warm and relaxing atmosphere for all. Refurbished to an outstanding quality by Mike and Linda, The White House offers first class bed and breakfast accommodation, tailored to guests’ individual needs. Being located close to Stansted Airport 1.5 miles, (but not on the flight path), The White House is the perfect venue for travellers going to and from the airport. The White House is conveniently situated for easy access to East Anglia's many attractions, including Hatfield Forest, Duxford Imperial War Museum, Cambridge and Newmarket Races as well as the City of London by road or rail. A continental style buffet breakfast is served for those departing early, and for those with a more leisurely start, a hearty English cooked breakfast served in the traditional, open beamed countryside kitchen. An evening meal is available at our nearby pub, The Lion and Lamb, which is also owned by Mike and Linda and is just a 2-minute drive away where British and modern European food is served all day until 10.00pm. Ideal for one night
We stayed in a quadruple room. Unlike such rooms in any hotel chain, we had a large double bed and two full-size single beds. We had sole use of an enormous and luxurious bathroom, but we had to cross the landing to get to it and my teenage daughter was very selfconscious about this (rooms were either 'en-suite' or 'private bathroom'). The room was spotless, the owners very welcoming. Breakfast was a fresh fruit salad, good coffee and tea, cereals, and full English. Excellent value. Close to quite a busy road, but we slept well. Full-size beds meant very little spare space - so best for a one-night stay. Taxi to and from Stansted cost £9.50 each way for a short journey.

Friendly family accommodation
Used The White House for two days business whilst working in East London
Very welcoming and spotlessly clean old house- and whilst near Stanstead and on a road is nice and quiet
East London down the M11 was half an hour away
Breakfast was lovely with intelligent conversation and the whole experience was stress free and relaxing

An unusual experience where top marks were earned in all departments!
Occasionally one finds a relatively small hotel that is welcoming, with cleanliness in abundance, where it is so easy to relax and feel 'at home'. The White House was just such a place. The owners themselves were actually on holiday but there were staff at the nearby pub (in the same ownership) to cover for them. My wife and I felt that we were suddenly the owners of this lovely old building that oozed charm and character. Our room was a good size with very pleasant en-suite facilities and we were soon refreshed from the long motorway car journey. Everything was beautifully clean and the continental breakfast we had chosen before our departure was splendidly presented with the chef in attendance to attend to our every desire! A thoroughly enjoyable stay that proved to be all too short!

Fantastic!
We stayed here 1 night to go to a surprise 50th birthday at the Lion & Lamb ( the owners pub and restaurant).
The room was perfect and spacious. We had everything we could want down to fresh milk for coffee.
The breakfast was also perfect. Could not have asked for a nicer place to stay and the owners were so welcoming and friendly.
