Public areas well presented. Room offered smelled of smoke and was not perfectly clean. Moved to alternative which smelled of damp. Moved to third room which was fine, but later found a bed leg missing! Made a polite complaint but only offered a drink if I was dining at hotel. Requested more and was given more, but shame it wasn't suggested by hotel.
I only want to stay in a hotel and feel good without having to make a complaint. Fine dining was excellent and the service was also good. Lovely surroundings and my daughter really enjoyed the golf. The leisure pool was as expected.
Unfortunately I have no desire to return.

Special
I would say that I am well-traveled and have had the pleasure of stopping at several famous hotels around the world. Oulton Hall gave me the same atmosphere as any of these venues as soon as I walked in to the reception and on entering my room. From the wood paneled walls, antique mirrored lifts and spacious but well-appointed rooms to the helpful and very professional staff I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. So much so that I have arranged for my business team to return there a week later as an afternoon stopover.

Lovely but not toddler friendly
Lovely hotel, friendly staff however was charged £10 for a travel cot which I thought was disgusting. Also menu not toddler child friendly, had a cheese sandwich for my toddler and this cost £8. Not a family hotel but gorgeous for a relaxing time as a couple.

Modern with a little bit of old age charm
Friendly and relaxed but a little un-inspiring. Room over priced.

nice but at a price!
very imposing hotel, nice interior, lots of 'afternoon tea's' going on when i arrived. service was good, dinner in the clubhouse bar/restuarant was good, slightly strange to have to walk 250 in the dark with little signage to get to it from the main hotel, but food and wine were nice.
beers and food/wine were on the expensive side, but what do you expect from a nice hotel.
room was ok, clean very smart, bathroom average.
breakfast was ok. Overall a nice well appointed hotel with above average food, but you pay the price!
