Enjoyable break
The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We were going to stay in the Orangery but it was pouring with rain when we arrived so she offered us a room in the main house, which was splendid. We had a meal in the bar in the evening and the barman was very informative and gave us ideas on were to go. The villages of Stanton, Upper Slaughter and Lower Slaughter being 3 of them which were very nice and not too many tourists. We were told to look at their website for special offers and we certainly will.

Beautiful hotel with some cheerless staff
The original building is beautiful with lovely grounds and outdoor terrace. We had no complaints about our room (with disabled access for my mother) which was large, well furnished and comfortable. However, we felt that the bathroom lacked adequate provision for a disabled person; there was a seat but no grabrail in the shower area (wet-room style), the shower curtain was inadequate- neither wide nor long enough, so most of the bathroom floor became splattered with water - and there were no rails or hooks on which to hang clothing or towels. We were mystified by the grabrails either side of the above-basin mirror whereas one inside the door would have been useful.
We did not eat evening meals in the hotel (expensive and nothing really appealed) but breakfast was enjoyable.
Our disappointment was with the staff. On arrival, the receptionist did her duty but was rather abrupt and not welcoming. When we returned one evening, another receptionist did not even raise her head from her computer to acknowledge us. Many of the waiting staff had limited English which did not permit any engagement with them and made their manner seem less than friendly.
Potholes in the driveway need urgent attention - also those near the entrance to the disabled rooms which made negotiation with a wheelchair tricky and potentially dangerous for pedestrians.

So relaxing!
I booked this hotel for a nights stay with my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary. After reading several negative reviews I was slightly apprehensive but my fears were unfounded as we had an amazing stay...even though it was justg one night! The receptionist was friendly and professional, and our room, located in the Orangerie a short walk from the main hotel, was perfect! Very spacious with a large bathroom and our own "private" patio area. The food in the restaurant was excellent, as were the staff, and we topped off our brief stay with a visit to the spa for a joint massage the next morning! Overall our get-away was perfect and wished we could have stayed longer! Will definitely be back as soon as we can get the babysitters booked!!

Enjoyable Stay
Excellent Cotswold location, nice relaxing atmosphere and attentive staff. Food was excellent. Only minor negative was the booking was for a 10th wedding anniversary celebration, however although the hotel was aware of this no special attention was paid to it.

Beautiful hotel, ideal for cotswolds and a relaxing luxurious break
Rooms were spacious, clean and modern. Tea and coffee making facilities provided. Bed was very large and very comfortable.
Breakfast was in a delightful sunny room. Buffet for cereals, croissants, fruit etc. Cooked breakfast made to order. It was the best cooked breakfast we have ever had, good quality products and no grease left on plate afterwards.
Communal rooms and library all very welcoming and with lots of character. Outdoor covered and heated sitting room is a must. Would go there again and again and again!!
