The Crown Hotel sits on the edge of Blandford, with views of the Stour River's water meadows and the town. It has a gastro-style restaurant and a stylish, upmarket bar. The current hotel was completely refurbished in 2008 - there has been an inn on this site since the 1300s. The friendly, welcoming team will aim to make your stay enjoyable.

All rooms are en suite and host some unique furniture, and Crown Hotel also has meeting rooms and a 200-seater function suite.

too expensive
very expensive as accomodation is very ordinary. Room was clean, and hotel is very nice, but for a basic room out of town , i would have expected a price around £55 not £100. Food was fantastic , however, staff okay. Would only go again of price was lower.

A very enjoyable stay but a pity about the shower/bath
The room, food and customer service were excellent BUT ( a little less controllable ) the shower was a nightmare... The control was broken and, as a result of this or a very obvious lack of hot water pressure ( or both ) the shower only delivered, a small amount of, cold water to the head ( the term power shower being a misnomer ) with some, tepid, water still running into the bath. As a result it was necessary to run a bath. This was unsatisfactory in itself but was made even worse by the length of time it took to run sufficient hot water.
The problem was reported at reception at Checkout and I was told that they would report it to Maintenance to look into it for the benefit of other guests using Room 12.

We’re sorry that you had a less than perfect stay at The Crown Hotel. First of all, thank you for kind comments about your room and our food and customer service. With regards to the shower, thank you for your feedback - we are having new boiler installed this week which we believe will rectify this issue.

A bit like me - pleasant and friendly but in need of a face lift! Good location in town and really close to shops.

Grubby cold and shabby
The room was cold in the night as the radiators seem to go off at about 20:00 and not come on until 07:00 although the corridors were hot. The room and bathroom were not very clean. The room had a old musty smell. The general decor needs updating and the carpets are well worn. The shower is not high enough for a six foot man to stand under but the water was hot enough. I went down for breakfast at 07:00 but the serving staff did not appear until 07:15. The toast was hot but the butter tasted like cheep butter with a fatty taste. The bacon was leathery and flavourless. I had to stay in the area for an extra day but moved hotel.
The lounge area was very nice, cosy and welcoming.

The hotel was friendly with staff ready to go the extra mile - for example I was late to breakfast and staff provided a very acceptable breakfast. The bedline duvet and bed were very comfortable. The only issue was that although the hotel has WIFI this is with a less secure connection and neither my laptop or IPAD security would accept it and I was unable to do work I'd planned which was irritating. However overall would definitely stay there again.
