Lads weekend away
It did what it said a cheap night away.
Very friendly people and very clean room.
Would stay again
Great Central location.
Free parking. Spacious room and bathroom. Comfy bed. Friendly helpful staff. Includes tasty breakfast. Can't go wrong.
Everything about this hotel was great.
From the friendly warm welcome to the constant available service from the staff. Nothing wrong whatsoever with our stay. N/A for food is purely for the fact we never tried it. Would highly recommend to anyone.
£79 was a joke, I was even told that I had a free upgrade on arrival, I dread to think what I would have had!!!.
I would not pay £7.90 for this hotel let alone £79 it was a disgrace.
A trip back in time, and not in a good way!
This hotel was like stepping back 25 years, to a time when hoteliers could very much provide whatever service they wished, and you put up with it.
Fortunately those days are long gone for most hotels, but not it seems at The Plough. Free parking - tick, reasonably pleasant check in, although the robotic SIR at the end of every sentence would get a bit wearing. On my way up to my room (Room 6, valuable info for later) I should have thought something was amiss with the very worn and dirty carpet on the stairs, and several bags of laundry piled up at the base of the stairwell. Basically the room I had was at the top of the landing, and as I am a light sleeper, I was worried the noise from the other residents, who were mostly contractors, late on would disturb me. I had 2 Double Beds and 1 Single, much more than a single traveller could ever need, but the bed I used was clean and comfy. The carpet was stained, and looked very old, the bathroom was cleaned, but was old and dilapidated, with rotting wood, tiles falling off etc. The whole room had a very old, used, worn out look to it. Unfortunately, the worst was yet to come. I need not have worried about the other residents, I did not hear a peep from them, however, once I turned off the tiny TV, and settled down for the night, it hit me. We were on a busy road junction, and my closed windows did not keep out any sound at all, add that to the fact that across the road there is a Carlsberg depot, which seemed to work all night with wagons and fork lifts revving and beeping away merrily, and to top it off, I had a lamppost directly outside of my window, with curtains that were thinner than a handkerchief. Consequently, I think I had about 2 hours sleep. The Pub/Dining room also had a very dated look, seats needing recovering etc. The menu looked ok, I chose Fish and Chips, where they managed to overcook the Fish, but the Chips and Peas were good, and the (what seemed like) homemade Tartare Sauce was really good. Breakfast was a standard buffet affair, nothing wrong with it, just nothing exciting. Overall, not a pleasant experience, and I will not be stopping in The Plough again, I would rather spend a little more, and get a good nights sleep.
Just In Time
Suitable for business purposes.
The Hotel is dated but the staff and accomodation was good for a 3 star Hotel.
The room was big, the linen was lovely and clean and good value for money for our one night stay while we visited Northampton. The breakfast which was included in the price was also very good.
Booked two rooms for Saturday, one through Laterooms and one direct.
The laterooms booked room was small but sufficient but the bathroom was had vast amounts of mould. The room booked direct with the hotel was clean and much larger. We are regular users of Laterooms , this the most we've spent on a room and the most disappointing so far in comparison.
