Weekend Theatre Break at the Rafayel on the Left Bank
The Rafayel is a beautiful, modern hotel. We stayed in one of their 'standard' rooms and were delighted by its size and luxury; we couldn't have asked for more!.
Being quite an active couple, the location of the hotel was not a problem for us - it's about 1/2 mile from Clapham Junction and a good mile from the King's Road - but less active couples may find its location inconvenient. Incidentally, it took us 55 minutes (via foot, rail & tube) to get to our West End theatre.
Despite its location, we were delighted with our choice of hotel and, just 2 days after our visit, we've already recommended it to our friends.

I expected more
Starting from the entrance you can tell that this 5 star hotel has had its highest point in the 90ies maybe. The entrance wasn't clean, the lifts don't sound save the room was tiny and had no view to the thames. In the evening it was too loud to sleep because of a party in the restaurant. The staff was medium friendly although I have to mention that the shuttle bus driver are very friendly! The Spa area contains a tiny Jacuzzi for a max of 3 people, a swimming pool the size of three bath tubs, a medium warm steam bath and a sauna (ok), thats it! So if you are looking for a wellness weekend don't go there. The fitness area and the relaxing room are o.k. And the location is awful! Although there are nice parts in Clapham Junction the Hotel is definitely not located in a nice area! If there wouldn't be a shuttle bus for free it would be even worse.
