50th Birthday Stay
Excellent retreat if you want a quiet and peaceful stay. I booked this for my birthday and was extremely happy with Room No.2 looking out onto the countryside. The other guests staying did not make any noise so the quality of the house from this point of view is top class.
We stayed for an evening meal on the first night and it was real nice however if you wish to have something more affordable and basic then a trip into one of the distant towns would be the other option.
Lady running the place was very polite and hospitable plus made the guests very much at home. A mention also for the lady serving breakfasts as she was also very friendly and talkative to make the stay complete.
Very much a place of fine standing and well worth a visit.

Quiet weekend in a great location, very friendly and helpful landlady.
Had a quiet weekend away planned for my girlfriend and myself, late summer (end of September). Searched for ages for the right place, out of the way, but not to secluded. This came up, highly recommended by all who had stayed, and rightly so. The landlady was very friendly, kind and couldn't do enough for you, and did it with a smile. Judith met us on arrival, showed us around, explained the relaxed easy going nature of the accommodation, then left us to it, even joined us while we drank in the bar for a chat.
The room, bar and restaurant area were all immaculate and felt very homely. The weather for our stay was dry but cool, imagine in summer (when the suns actually out) you could sit in the garden and take in the views and scenery, but in winter, you could snuggle up with the log fire burning and either disappear into your room, or have a chat with the other guests (all of which during our stay were very pleasant).
All in all an amazing place to stay, we did 2 nights and didn't want to leave, we had breakfast both mornings and 1 evening meal there. All were fantastic home made, locally sourced food.
As a couple we've done a lot of travelling of all different kinds and locations, and this is the first review either of us have ever left. We felt the location, accommodation, food and Judith fully deserved. We will be returning.
Only one very slight and light hearted suggestion, could you please stock some more easy going cider in the bar. The 8.2% Henry Westons, though is one of my favorites, didn't fit in with the theme of a quiet weekend.
Thanks
Trish and Danny
