Great for a quick stay
As Hostels go, it's great.
As London goes, it doesn't get cheaper. Minutes to the tube and parking for just £5 outside the congestion zone.
Fantastic, as always
It's always great service and a good stay here.
Excellent hostel!!! Very friendly and clean
I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the hostel was for such little price.
The room as clean and showers/toilets. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Was in a good area with good transport links. I would definitely stay again.
OK for the price & location
We literally wanted a bed for the night, as my other half and I were in London for a gig.
It ticked the boxes of being cheap and relatively central, but I probably wouldn't stay there again as a couple. We wanted our own room, which we got, but it was tacked on to the end of the toilets and showers. Could hear everything through the thin walls. It was really cold, too, and the heating didn't do anything. We also very nearly got shut in our room when someone propped the bathroom door open - had to squeeze out of a tiny gap to get out.
Overall, yeah it was OK. The staff were friendly enough, and it's a great location. I think it's good value for money.
To meny peoples for so small room.
Amazing place to stay in London.
Beautiful building, helpful staff and fantastic value.
A pleasant (k)night with a hostel with lots of character and a suit of armour guarding the stairs
Palmers Lodge had a good write up, for me it had close access to Underground stations, very reasonably priced, had free WIFI and the dark wood throughout took it beyond just another hostel to an English house of distinction.
Overpriced for what you get
Firstly I was aware this was a hostel and not a hotel, however we booked an en-suite room that cost £92.00 and told we would be charged an additional £1.00 for paying by debit card, something not mentioned when you book.
The room itself was clean, but lacked all the little extras you would expect at this price - in fact a Travelodge would have been a better experience. The room I stayed had been squeezed in next to the lift shaft, so was noisy. Only two thin pillows were in the room, along with very small towels. The breakfast was simply toast and a croissant, but pleasant enough. The room also lacked a TV, as basic in even budget hotels. All in all for half the price, this would have been good value for money, but at over £90 per night very bad value for money.
Very welcoming to me and my bump
I am very grateful to staff who saw to it that I had a bed on the mezzanine floor as at 6 months pregnant I struggled to get onto the top bunks.
Quiet dormitory even though I was sharing with over twenty people. Would be lovely to have some fruit at breakfast but really that's just being fussy. Clean, beautiful building, efficient service.
Bigger room didn't mean more noise
Lovely place to stay.
I had a bed on hone mezzanine floor in a large mixed shared dormitory. You might think that more people makes for more noise, but it didn't. It just made for more people to go 'shh' if someone forgot to keep quiet. I heard one guest explain to another "there we people here from all over the world so we don't know when they will need to sleep, that's why it should be quiet in here all day, as well as all night" there were plenty of social areas for chatting and mixing. Toilets and showers were clean, as was the bed linen, internet was free, it was easy to get to on the tube. Great place.
