2Self Classified Hotel Ratings explained
32-34 NORFOLK SQUARE Paddington, LONDON, W2 1RS
We are an established hotel in Paddington, central London for 20 years. We have built a respectable clientele from all over the world and especially from the neighbouring countries, as well as Scandinavia, Italy, Germany, Hellas & the USA.

Dolphin Hotel occupies an attractive victorian building, first built in the 1850's and is situated in a tree lined square around 100 yards away from Paddington main line and underground stations while Hyde Park, Madame Tussaud's, British Museum, V & A Museum, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Oxford Street and numerous other London attractions are all either within walking distance or within easy reach.

The area is covered very well by a number of restaurants, which offer food of different tastes from Mc Donald's to Indian,Italian, Greek or Chinese food.

Many original futures of this building have been restored with our comfortable lounge being one example.Located on the ground floor of the hotel, offers relaxing views over a delightful garden.

Our aim has always been to offer value for money, a good service within the meaning of budget accommodation.

Very poor value for money and definitely not described accurately- book at your peril!!!!!!!
We arrived to be told check in was after 2pm. There is parking outside on the road but the guests have to pay for parking which is only valid for up to 4 hours and then the car has to move. No mention of that at time of booking. Photo ID required to check in, which was not mentioned at time of booking, luckily they accepted drivers license photo card. When we did get our room there were 5 single beds all with various mattress sizes. The decor was something out of the eighties. Beds were placed under a fireplace mantel so my daughter kept banging her head everytime she sat up. There were deep holes in the floor that had been covered up by the beds. An uncovered strip light was the only main lighting for the room. Spotlights were hanging out of their sockets. The en suite shower room stunk of faeces and the ceiling had mould/mildew stains on it. No complimentary wash items. No milk to make yourself a cup of tea. Chipped mugs and glass tops for bedside cabinets, totally unsafe for our toddling one year old who nearly pulled the units on top of herself. Cot provided was so small that she could barely move/turn over in it. No cot bedding provided. Breakfast room was jam packed with tables that made it ridiculous for guests to move about to get their own breakfast. No highchair offered for the baby to eat at so she had to sit on my wife's lap to eat her breakfast. There was absolutely nothing executive about this room, a hostel would be an upgrade compared to this. The pictures on your website do not show the rooms at their true quality. A review back in sept 2012 says exactly the same complaints we had, 2 years on this hotel clearly has not refurbished or made any improvements since then. Really wish we had booked somewhere else. Ruined our stay and meant we had to stay out late with our young children (ages 1, 3 and 6)every night in order for them to just crash and sleep as soon as they got in the room and also avoid £2.60 per hour parking charges! Would highly recommend to afford this place at all costs. A complete rip off at £265 per night for facilities that are worse than a hostel and clearly not for a family with young children.

A great hotel for a budget stay
The Dolphin Hotel was clean, close to Paddington and able to offer a family room wth five beds. The room was clean, had a small ensuite bathroom with toilet and shower and a television. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was nice. It is basic, but we were all happy.

Student Hostel!
The standard is this hotel is dreadful!!! 2'6 inch beds!! Yes, child size! Lucky enough to get an en suite...Toilet seat too small for pan... Shower hook falls off wall....Hot water dangerously hot! Curatins hanging off rail...valence sheets dragging on laminate floor (I tripped and hit head on wall!).... hole in laminate floor.......one bed positioned under the fireplace mantel!!! Hmmmm Risk assessment clearly not in place here! Went down to breakfast (8.15 - 9.15) all seats taken by students so couldn't get in.... £530.00 for 2 nights accomm!!!! Arrived at 13.00 as paperwork said... Told that receptionist was at lunch we could leave cases and check in at 2pm... Then told arrival time is not check in time!! I was staying in Paddington as my partner was having a big op at St Marys hospital..At an already very distressing time to be face with theses unnecessary issues in just not acceptable. late rooms need to be vetting these properties that they are advertising!!!
