|2||AA Assessed Small Hotel||Ratings explained|
this remarkable building has a long history of welcoming travellers with warmth and hospitality. Indeed, the characteristic stone archway stands as
testimony to its rich heritage. Lovingly renovated and modernised, every effort has been taken to ensure that it still retains much of its period character and charm. With its friendly atmosphere, beautiful scenery and idyllic location, it is the perfect base from which to explore the many wonders of the surrounding area.
Sympathetically combining the homely splendour of the past with the comfortable pleasures of the modern, each of the 13 en-suite rooms are
tastefully decorated and furnished. Warm, welcoming and meticulously maintained, TV, work desk, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities.
There is a selection of room types available including Single, Double, Twin,Superior and Family options. Whatever guests choose, they are assured of a relaxing stay and a peaceful night's sleep.
No visit to The Teeside Hotel would be complete without sampling the culinary delights, all of the food is cooked on the premises using fresh,
seasonal, good-quality locally sourced ingredients, conscientiously prepared
and served by friendly staff. Whether dining in the elegant restaurant or enjoying a meal in the relaxed lounge bar, guests can look forward to a
sumptuous menu and some truly great British cooking. There is also an extensive wine cellar and a well-stocked bar with some tremendous local Real Ales, refreshing ciders and a discerning selection of malt whiskies. What's more, the decked patio area is perfect for alfresco dining and drinking in the summer, whilst roaring log fires keep things cosy in the winter.
As well as being open to non-residents and well patronised by the locals, the restaurant is also available for private functions and bookings, such as Weddings, Christenings, Anniversaries and Birthdays. They also have the facilities to cater for small business meetings and conferences for parties of up to fifty people.
The Teesdale Hotel is privileged to have the awe-inspiring glory of the North Pennies right on its doorstep. Designated as an Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty (AONB) it is a stunning landscape of open heather moors, enchanting woodland, tumbling rivers and much more besides. It is a genuine wonderland for fans of the great outdoors offering unparalleled opportunities for walking, rambling, cycling and other activities. Two long
distance footpaths pass through Middleton-in-Teesdale: the famous Pennine Way and the Teesdale Way. The northwards stretch of both is a beautiful walk along the River Tees taking in Low Force and High Force waterfalls and then
on to Cauldron Snout; England's largest cascade. Further on the same path High Cup Nick is an inspirational must-see, often referred to as the Grand Canyon of North East England. The area is also home to some fantastic sites of historic interest including the lofty Bernard's Castle and the 12th century ruins of Bowes Castle and Brough Castle. There is also the medieval beauty of Raby Castle, offering intimidating fortifications, an
extraordinary art collection and vast acres of parkland home to ornamental lakes and herds of deer. Just a short drive from the Hotel, in the historic town of Barnard Castle, is the world-famous Bowes Museum. With a renowned art collection, 3 floors of galleries, an ever-changing exhibition programme and wonderfully tranquil parks and gardens, it is a truly unforgettable experience. For a day of family fun, Beamish Museum tells the story of the
people of North East England during the Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian periods. With costumed guides, live demonstrations, traditional craftsman
and much more, it brings the past to life in a way that is both educational and most importantly fun.
