Very helpful and friendly staff, room would have benefited from a fan or air con as very hot.
There was a bag over smoke detector which was a bit perturbing but overall room was fine. Food was excellent as was the ale!

Tatty.. needs refurb!
Stained walls/carpet, cracked bathroom tiles and windows. Torn stairs carpet. Not what was shown on website hotel photos. Service and breakfast good. Dinner mediocre. Could be much, much better with refurb. I understand they have already started on some of the rooms but communal areas should be a priority.

George Hotel Frome review
Room was fine, good value for money. My only niggle is the duvet was too hot, and with no spare blankets it wasn't possible to have cooler bedding.

proper food
A very quaint, rustic hotel but modern with facilities. Stayed in Room 205 the four poster bed, very comfy king size. Staff very attentive and helpful.
We ate Lasagne and the Wadworth pie, it was gorgeous, as good as home made.
Breakfast was very good to with many options.

Excellent stay
This was our second stay at The George but our first in the newly refurbished extended rooms. We were very impressed.Although the bedroom wasn't large the en-suite bathroom was massive and the furnishings were very in keeping with the age of the hotel. The hotel was spotless, the bed comfortable and the evening meal and breakfast was excellent and good value for money. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff we encountered who were extremely helpful and very friendly. Will definitely return.

Needs a little love....
Staff are excellent, but hotel is looking very tired, and a top to bottom redecoration appears well overdue. The food was a good attempt at an interesting menu but also had issues with not delivering what was promised....the breakfast was excellent, but dinner was not was we had hoped for. As a base for a one night stop it was ok... but would want to read about an improvement before I rushed back. Shame, as the staff are very attentive... but feel the facilities let them down...
