I have stayed all over the country in the last nine years whilst I have been a construction manager, this far by the best accommodation I've stayed in and the breakfast Es fantastic.
Accommodation & Hospitality EXCELLENT
Great value for money.
I would definitely like to return there in the New Year
Good nights rest and a hearty breakfast
Our room in the old part of the building was quaint and quirky.
Everything you would expect from an historic inn but with modern en-suite. Bed was comfy, facilities great, only (slight) negative was the sound of fan running all night from somewhere else in the building, but it didn't stop us sleeping well. Breakfast perfect.
Comfortable and affordable
Stayed in one of the inside pub rooms, It was large and comfortable.
The only downside was that we were unable to have the window open due to traffic noise which was continual throughout the night.
Ideal quiet location within easy reach of Oxford and Swindon
We stayed overnight but would have happily stayed all week.
Accommodation is separate to the pub so is quiet and modern. Very clean with a huge bathroom, all usual toiletries were provided and bath was wonderful.
Food was excellent and good value, we had an evening meal and breakfast.
What was reassuring was someone else staying there has stayed there before and recommends the pub to friends and family. This is an ideal place to stay if you want a quiet stay but need to be near local attractions.
Pleasant and good value for money
Our room in a block behind the inn was pleasantly decorated and pretty clean, although there were marks on the bathroom floor tiles where a previous guest had spilt something; the floor would have benefitted from being cleaned.
There were ample supplies of tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water, and staff were happy to offer more when we asked for them. We had a lovely, good quality pub meal on one evening. Both the ales and wine were tasty and well kept. Breakfasts were excellent; there was a wide choice, including some more unusual dishes. I attended a weekend course in Wantage, so the inn was handy for me, but also in a good location for my husband to engage in site-seeing. The inn was conveniently located for the park and ride into Oxford. All in all, this was a very pleasnt stay which we would be delighted to repeat if we were ever in the area again.
The Cherry Tree
Very nice hotel, only a few things I wasn't so happy about.
Our room had a tiny bathroom (only 1 person could stay inside) it was a little bit noisy during the night and it didn't have too much light even during the day. Funny smell in the corridor upstairs. However, it was also really cozy, the food in the pub was very good and so was the breakfast, which they prepare for you according to your preferences. The customer service was also exceptional, I think it is a very good value for the price and I would definitely take this hotel into consideration if I travel to the area in the future.
Lovely village pub - with original features
We had a really enjoyable stay here.
Rooms have low beamed ceilings due to the age of the property, which added to the character (but if you are taller than 5 ft. 5inch please mind your head!!) Breakfast was cooked to order. We ate in the pub on our first night - excellent quality. Choice of traditional Ales - so hubby was happy. We did find drinks to be on the dearer side - but that seemed to be all pubs / bars. Great location to travel to Abingon / Oxford / Didcot / Radley. Good service and pleasant staff. Would definitely recommend it.
I would still consider staying again, BUT....
The room was let down by: No heating in bathroom.
Hotelier said repairs were awaited but made no mention of this upon our arrival. Curtain against night storage heater was charred as were wall light shades. Probably not dangerous but slightly un-nerving. You have to go outside to reach the bedrooms.
Our break was okay.
