Reviews - Hotel Fontaines Du Luxembourg

4 Rue Vaugirard , Paris, 75006
The newly renovated hotel offers, elegance, subtlety and friendliness in an ancient residence transformed by King Louis XIV to house his grooms. From this flourishing age, the Hotel Fontaines du Luxembourg has retained purity and calm with its indoor patio covered in Virginia creeper, around which our lounge, reception area and rooms are arranged.
Return to the charm of the past at breakfast time. A generous buffet is served in an authentic vaulted room dating from the 17th century, where a 12th century pillar from the fortified walls erected by Philippe Auguste still remains.
Fully renovated in Sept 2009, the hotel enjoys a central location in the Saint Germain quarter and right off the Latin Quarter. Designed by Architect Fabrice Ausset of the famed Zoevox agency, a blend of classical and modernism greets you for a most unique stay in the most popular part of Paris.

Superb location and accommodation.
Gem of hotel in an ideal location. Room was a delight, especially the massive bath which was a true luxury. Staff helpful and friendly and room rate very reasonable for this standard and location. Would recommend to anyone.

Very quiet and a good location
Took Eurostar to stay in Paris for a long weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. No complaints about the hotel. We were told on arrival we had been upgraded to a superior room on the 3rd floor which looked down onto a courtyard sandwiched between the 4 sides of the building. Not a great view as we looked across at the corridor as it wound around to our room.On the plus side it was extremely quiet and the curtains completely shut out the light so we slept very well..so well we never knew the time when we woke up! However, I did request on the booking, a room overlooking the street because a view over street is often more interesting and the windows would have given more natural light. But the quietness of our room (307) was great. Reception staff were always available, spoke English and were very helpful. We liked the area where the hotel was situated. A quiet neighbourhood but within easy walking distance of the Notre Dame and the bridges to walk to other side of the river to see the Louvre amongst other things. The room was clean and had super kingsize bed. Nothing is cheap in Paris (I think it is more expensive than London) so I guess it was value for money. I cant comment on the food as our package didn't include breakfast...that would cost an extra 14 euros each per day. If I was asked to suggest improvements, I would say that the hotel website should give advice on what metro line to take from Gare du nord when we disembark from Eurostar, (maybe also explain the buying of multiple tickets on Metro) and then explain the best way to walk from the hotel after disembarking from the nearest Metro (we used the Odeon metro station) . Also, I did email hotel in advance indicating that we were coming and it was my wife's birthday...it would have been a nice touch if they had acknowledged that! Nice bar nearby, on the roundabout at start of road, which had a spiral staircase where you can sit and look down from. A fantastic patiserie 30 seconds away in opposite direction from bar, just around corner. In summary, I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
