The Athena Hotel is a nice family run hotel, in a restored Victorian listed building. This is a good quality, comfortable and clean hotel, located in Sussex Gardens, Paddington. This is a high standard budget bed and breakfast hotel, with a lift, limited onsite car parking and some disabled facilities. Well located in a pleasant tree lined avenue seven minutes' walk from Hyde Park, The Athena Hotel is a good choice for those budget conscious travellers wanting comfort, and don't mind a couple of pounds extra per night on their accommodation.

We were disappointed with this hotel, I traveled to London for my graduation with my parents and boyfriend. We chose this hotel due to its fairly good and central location in Paddington, I must admit it was difficult to find good accommodation for a reasonable price In London on the night we needed but this hotel for what we got was way overpriced. Before arriving at the hotel both myself and my mother tried contacting the hotel directly to request for an early check in, they never answered the phone and when they finally did I was spoken to quite abruptly and put on hold for 5-10 minutes. The staff were however friendlier in person. The rooms were down in the basement, the corridor was very narrow and cramped, my parents room was by the lift and was tiny and little natural light coming through a very scenic view of a brick wall. They were woken at 6am when the delivery for breakfast arrived and woke them up. My room was much better, with two windows, more light and able to see the feet of passerby, however not worth the price. What I will say is the hotel is on a lovely street, safe location and the breakfast was fairly decent, there is a lovely pub called the Monkey Puzzle which was lovely with nice outdoor seating area.

Nice and clean breakfast rather poor
Our stay was very pleasant. Room was pretty spacious for triple. Clean and newly decorated. New bathroom facilities. Only problem was that breakfast stopped at 9 which was too early and if you did not like cereals and eggs there was nothing much to eat. No cheese ham etc.

Good value
This was a good value hotel, right in the centre of London and easy to find. Bedroom was nice, staff friendly, good breakfast service. Bathroom needed a bit of work but power shower was good and water nice and hot. Would recommend.

Very poor
Had realistic expectation, however checked out extremely disappointed. It was absolutely freezing in the room because the heater was broken. Mattresses were absolutely shocking, most of linen looked old and unpleasant. In-room safe didn't work. All together, nothing to cheer about but a good shower and fast five quid a day internet. Would not recommend or stay again.
