Great deal on laterooms! clean and spacious rooms on lovely grounds. Great value for money
Regular business stayer.
I stay regularly at the Selsdon as it is convenient when I work out of the Croydon office.
The hotel is grand in appearance but some of the rooms are now a little tired in appearance, but are always clean and comfortable. Food is good, if not a little pricey, so I often take the opportunity to eat out as there is plenty of choice in the local area. Staff are generally helpful and friendly although on an impersonal level, due to the size of the hotel and the number of staff. Although it has a well appointed leisure complex I tend not to use it, opting to take a run around the local area. It has become a home from home for me to some extent over the past year.
For the price it was great!
Stayed here to visit my grandchildren who live nearby, so only used the room to sleep in.
Some of the reviews said it was a bit dated, which is a bit true but my single room was clean, warm but not too warm, had everything I needed there is also a pool & spa which I may used next time I visit & the price was really good-thank you
We had a lovely big room and it was quiet.
We used the swimming pool during splash time and were the only ones there. We did stay on a wednesday night in school time so perhaps that was why, but nonetheless it was a luxury.
my first (of many) visits.
great 1st impression, high impact venue with great facilities.
All staff which i met were very helpful and receptive.. food excellent, the only thing was the slight tiredness of the room in facilities as regards to the tea/coffee and television. Being based down there now, this will be somewhere i will choose again. send my complement.
Lovely couple with young boy.
We have stayed at selsdon park hotel before and it has become one of our favorite hotels to stay in the staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is a beautiful building and the rooms are spacious and relaxing.
I stayed at this hotel many years ago and was impressed which prompted me to book B&B for two separate nights bookending a trip abroad.
However, I was left very disappointed on both nights. To be balanced the first night, I was upgraded following my complaint of an unclean bathroom and issues regarding the main part of the room, but the issues should not be present necessitating being moved in the first place. The second night - wasn't much better, I was situated in a single room on the second floor that again was 'very tired' but decided to put up with it, until people arrived in the next room and I could hear everything..including the use of their bathroom facilities, them opening and shutting the door left the wall shaking - and so I felt the need to ask to be moved. And again to be balanced I was moved to a quieter room - but again this too was "tired" - an old style tv with fuzzy reception, and broken tile on the bathroom floor. Breakfast on both occasions were disappointing - the first the table cloth was dirty and I asked for it to be changed, I was moved to another table, but noticed that the table cloth was just dusted off and not changed, the service to get a pot of hot water was interminably slow. Yet on balance the food on offer was bright and fresh. Breakfast on my second morning didn't happen..the hotel was so busy that the breakfasting team were just not coping with demand and people were stood waiting in the hallway, there was no one to speak to as I noticed the restaurant manager clearing tables..this was noble, yet left those waiting clueless with no sense of wait time.
My overall impression is sadly that the hotel is trading on it's name, but has forgotten about the details especially maintaining immaculate rooms even in the lower price range (I say this because the room I was upgraded too - clearly was maintained although missing an iron which took 2 hours for me to be furnished with one).
The need for adequate staffing levels also needs to be looked at. The carpets are in dire need of upgrading and for those less able like myself I couldn't recommend this hotel as even on the ground floor there are steps to rooms. I did want to be able to give a wholly positive review but this would be misleading. I will be writing to the company to express my concerns in greater detail as this is not the forum to do this, or indeed for laterooms to deal with either.
2 night stay at selsdon park
Room like something out of the 80s in serious need of updating, food in the bar took 40 minutes to arrive and when it did a basic burger and chips was terrible.
Cleaners knocked on the door at 8 to ask when I was leaving when I was still trying to sleep. Ground staff woke me up laughing and singing at 715. Lovely frontage and some lovely parts to the hotel however the room I had was nothing like that.
Grand Entrance but dreadful room.
Dark wood and an ancient TV with 4 channels made me feel like I was in the 90's. My room was very old and noisy and I felt very claustrophobic in there.
