Reviews - Radisson BLU 1919 Hotel

Pósthússtræti 2 , Reykjavik, 101
Radisson BLU 1919 Hotel is an upscale downtown address in the very heart of Reykjavik. The hotel is located in a beautiful historical building known as the “Eimskipafélagshúsið” which opened in the year 1919 as the headquarters of Iceland’s first shipping company. In 2005, the building reopened as a contemporary design hotel but has kept some of the classic elements such as the green marble tiles and the extravagant 5 story staircase that runs through the centre of the house.

As a guest you will have complimentary access to the on site Fitness centre and Business centre. During your stay we invite you to use the Concierge Service of our Front Office and why not stop by the Gullfoss Wine Bar for a cocktail and taste of some of Iceland’s greatest culinary creations at Gullfoss Seafood & Grill.

Within walking distance from the hotel you will find yourself pretty much wherever you need to go in the downtown area. Whether you are headed to a meeting or just looking to do some exploring or shopping, it can all be found right in the city centre. Transportation can be arranged for you at the hotel.

Rooms

Rooms are a little hot but very smart. Reception excellent in helping us to organise trips etc. Some reviewers have found this hotel too noisy (location is downtown) - we asked for a quiet room and didn't hear any external noise at all. Excellent central location

Radisson 1919 Review - Iceland Feb 2013
The hotel was ideally located central to shops, restaurants and public services. The rooms were very clean, linen crisp and fresh and the staff extremely pleasant and helpful. The only criticism I have is that the pillows looked lovely and plump until you rested your head on them and then your head sank in the middle and it was like sleeping on tissue paper. Other than that, the beds were supportable and they even put a spare bed in for my son (charged at a reasonable rate) and the hotel was value for money. The breakfast was buffet style with good choice and again, the staff very pleasant and helpful. Fantastic views across the quay if the weather is good and quite quiet for where it was located.
