3Self Classified Inn Ratings explained
Linton Rd, Horseheath, , Cambridge, CB21 4QF
The Old Red Lion is a traditional Inn situated on the outskirts of Cambridgeshire, with easy access to near Newmarket, Saffron Walden, Duxford & Bury St Edmunds. The original Inn dates back to its 18th Century days and was originally an old farm house and now has a comfortable bar area and a 60 seater restaurant. The lodges offer twelve comfortable en-suite letting rooms in a charming setting, set aside from the main building. Our location means we are fortunate that the Thurlow - Point to Point Race Course is located just over the road from us. The villagers take their dogs over to all of the meets and the annual country fair enjoying a wonderful day out, making it a fun filled day for all the family. Our location enables easy transport links to many local attractions including; Chilford Hall, Duxford Imperial War Museum, The Fitzwilliam museum and Audley End house. Our bar is stocked with a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. All of our bitters and guest ales are cask marque accredited. The bar area provides an area where people can relax and unwind in a cosy space by the log burner. Dining in our 60 seater restaurant, you can select a bottle of wine from our large wine menu or choose from our selection of cask beers & lagers. Our restaurant menu changes regularly with Head Chef using only the best & local seasonal ingredients available. Those that prefer a lie in or an early start why not a continental breakfast instead. Our Accommodation lodges provide a calm space to unwind from a busy day exploring Cambridge and the surrounding areas. Each room has its own en suite bathroom with either a bath or a shower. Having large Freeview Tvs with sky channels, free Wifi access, tea & coffee making facilities including still & sparkling water. A large breakfast selection is available including orange juice, yoghurts, tea & coffee, full English breakfast to smoke salmon & scrambled egg.

Great location for Cambridge and saffron walden. Nice atmosphere. Good winter stay.
Room was very spacious with a bit of luxury. Pub and dining areas what you would expect from a nice country pub with wood burners and comfy seating. Bar food was very good but found the restaurant menu a bit too complicated with too much going on on the plate( as they say on masterchef) but the choice was very good. Had a great plate of scrambled egg for breakfast on our second morning, after finding the"full English" a bit too much. Wi Fi in our room never worked nor the remote for the TV but these were minor niggles. Overall a good stay.

Very nice room for an overnight stay - pity about the number of flies in it. Just a bit too off-putting, so would not stay here again.

A Gem!
We visited The Old Red Lion last weekend ie 1/8/2014 having had a wonderful day at Newmarket races, followed by a concert by The Voice himself - Tom Jones. Although we did arrive late our keys had been left for us. Very comfortable spacious room and bathroom.
We stayed two nights, dinner and breakfast all of which were very good. Dinner was particularly good and our waitress Abbey was extremely efficient friendly and helpful (in fact the same can be said for all the staff but didn't get names)
Very relaxing and Treacy and Ian made us very welcome!
Suggestion: The water pressure in our shower wasn't great perhaps an update!
