The room we stayed in was okay, lovely Dutch style but was very dusty in places, mostly behind the drooping curtains.
Bathroom had very little room to move but done the job, the shower head dose need changing as the water comes out the side sides not the shower head holes. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.the hotel location is right by a city park and close enough to the main attractions, 10 minute team journey will take you to the red light district and main centre.
Met the owner of the atlas hotel.
She is a very attentative lady who appreciates that her guests are paying customers. She will do her best to accomodate and ensure that your stay is a pleasant one. *travelling from central train station take the no 2 or no 5 tram (15minute - e2.80) get off at the tram stop just before the cross roads, where you see the "smooth talk coffee house" (brown coloured building) on the far left hand side of cross roads. Walking straight ahead for about 5 minutes on the right hand sidwe of the street (passing various clothing stores, etc) the path bends slightly to your right by a resturant look across the road to your right and you will see the atlas hotel. Enjoy. *behind the hotel is a wonderful large park with a cafe in it's grounds
Dont stay you can find better
We had the room for 3 people which stated on the website that it was roomy enough for 3 people to have a bit of me time - big joke - the room was very small and cramped and the main problem was that the windows didn't hardly open.
Being at the top of the house the room was very hot with only one small oscillating fan for the 3 of us. We asked for another fan and was given one that didn't work and as the receptionist was the only person on site it couldn't be repaired. i asked her to let the owners know about our problems and she said they were already aware so i take it that means they just dont care. The only good thing about the hotel is the area where it is backing onto the vondelpark which luckily for us was lovely. Dont stay there you can get better for your money
A very nice room situated near to a beautiful park.
There is a 3 % sircharge for debit card payments. Well located for the number 2 tram but can be hard to find by foot. Classey caffes and resturaunts just across the square. Worth staying if you want somewhere quiet.
Peaceful stay after hectic Amsterdam day
The hotel is ideally located and not far from the Museums and shops.
there is lovely park behind to take a leisurely walk.
The room we wee given was fantastic and we had a most restful time there after a couple of hectic days around the city. So this is the added bonus if you want to be away from the city night life. Breakfast was OK, but as I have a Wheat intolerance I find it hard to eat in the Netherlands anyway but a supermarket nearby provides you with gluten free products. Staff were lovely and helpful.
This Hotel provided easily the worst breakfast we have ever had!.
It consisted of leathery scrambled egg, no bacon or other cooked items except boiled eggs, which were rock hard and cold. The bread was poor and there were a few cold meats or cereal. The coffee was awful as well!!
Quaint and convenient, but a bit tired
The hotel is in a converted large house in a very pleasant area next the Vondelpark.
Ours was a large corner attic room with some views out onto greenery, but the bathroom and towels were tired. The tram stop was just outside and the big museums art galleries and concert hall were close. It was hard to get affordable accommodation that weekend so it worked OK.
