Reviews - Pensione Hotel Sydney

631-635 GEORGE STREET, SYDNEY, 2000
Set behind a beautiful heritage-listed facade, this 4-storey hotel offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, where contemporary design is combined with original features and traditional European elegance. This truly unique venue enables its guests to experience all of Sydney with unparalleled value. It is perfectly situated in the middle of the vibrant entertainment and theatre district and close to the central business area. Just 2 minutes' walk from Chinatown and Paddy's Markets and 15 minutes' from the iconic Hyde Park and Oxford Street. Located below the hotel, the bar-restaurant is an ideal place where guests can relax at the end of the day with a chilled drink or enjoy a tasty cocktail during the happy hour. Specially prepared dishes are available throughout the day for those who want to enjoy a proper sit-down meal.

The hotel is in a good location on George Street, with shops, eating places and banks nearby. Also was great, being a lone female traveller, I felt safe going back to the hotel late in the evening. The room was cleaned well, and, not that I used it, but had a washing and dryer if you needed. The only point I found difficult was that the hotel reception is on the 1st floor, and so when you arrive you have to make your way up there with your luggage by yourself. If you arrive by airport shuttle bus or taxi you get dropped of at the back of the hotel, Sussex Street, which means you have to wheel your heavy luggage to the front all by yourself, then get in the lift to take you to reception. It would be helpful if the hotel provided a trolley to help with the luggage. I understand the difficulties as it is in listed building in the CBD so not much flexibility in changing the layout of the hotel.
