took one look at room and nearly checked out - grim and dated on the plus sheets clean and staff were nice.
Okay so this isn't the WORST hotel in Birmingham but for £40 a night I think this is incredibly over priced.
Room was very basic and pictures are slightly misleading. Gives the impression the place is up to date but it isn't. The free wi-fi is also very misleading as this was only available in the open lobby downstairs. It is an additional £10 per day should you want this in your room. I think this hotel is only suitable for a Business trip, I was here for a romantic trip away and the hotel was a mood killer. If priced at £25-30 it would be reasonable. a taxi to bullring was only £5 but I would recommend you to look elsewhere.
Not what I expected...
Definitely not recommended for a romantic weekend away.
The room was particularly in need of renovation, it felt like we were staying somewhere between an old persons home and a hostel. We stayed for a long weekend and Saturday night was particularly bad with groups of Hens and groups of boys returning to the hotel all night and making lots of noise. Would not recommend this hotel.
Very expensive for what you get
this is my first review of a hotel stay so I'm not going to pick holes out of the accommodation except that it was a lot of money for what we got
Nearly £100 for a hotel UP NORTH
Thought everything was cheaper than arse slapping London
If I'd been on the programme four in a bed I would of only handed out 60 sheets
Tired and needs refurbishment
Location of hotel was good after a night out in Birmingham but our room was in dire need of refurbishment as were most of the public areas.
Curtains not big enough for window, toilet cistern didn't refill, shower curtain wouldn't close , chair worn through to foam, and so on. BreakfSt was pretty average and very very busy. Staff were friendly despite the surroundings.
Cheap and (only just) Cheerful
We only wanted somewhere for 1 night - somewhere to lay our heads and have some dinner before catching a show.
The place appeared deserted when we arrived and everything looked closed. We had our table for dinner booked in advance but unfortunatey we had to leave and grab a bite on our way to the show as we were kept waiting too long. The hotel served it's purpose fine - we only wanted a basic room. But i felt most of the staff were not too happy - we walked into the beauty room and got a bit of a frosty reception there too. Oh, and what i can only assume was a member of staff casually let themselves into our room in the morning when i was in bed and my sister was taking a leak on the toilet !. Not great. But again, sound if you're not fussy and just need somewhere basic.
Good value for money!
We went to see a concert at the Barclay card arena it was our first visit to Birmingham and wanted a cheaply priced hotel, we opted for room only and were pleasantly surprised upon our arrival at the bargain we had got.
It was a lovely room for £42 we weren't expecting much as it had been so cheap but it was set to a good standard. Staff were friendly and had a laugh. Only criticism would be the other hotel users being so loud and having security knocking on their door and gone midnight. However this isn't
The hotels fault at all, we will deffinalty stay here again in the near future!.
Worth a stay even if the people behind the bar can't add up
Stayed here recently.
Nice large, clean room, but was very hot. Plenty of tea and coffee and the breakfast is very good, all you can eat buffet style. Car parking could be better and the bar meal I had (Carbonara) was ok a bit over salted and the garlic bread was very soggy. I bought the meal and a pint from the bar and it seemed to take ages for the two young ladies to sort things, they both came across as trainees and didn't have good customer service skills and I realised later they had short-changed me by 50p. They didn't seem to know how the till worked or how much change they had given me. The one then claimed they had over changed me by £10 until I pointed out I had paid with a twenty pound note. Anyway, apart from the two misfits at the bar in all it was a nice stay.
Clean and quiet room, bed was comfortable.
All staff were very polite and courteous. The restaurant, was roomy and presented well. The waiting on staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble, always a smile and cheerful. Especially Danni, Nadine and Marc. Chefs were a credit to the hotel. Hopefully we will be back there again sooner rather than later. Very pleased all round thank you.
