A genuine surprise
The owner of an hotel is what makes a place special, or makes it a disaster.
Nadia Moghul has run this hotel for four years and the direction it is going in is very much her aspiration. I stay in many inexpensive hotels in my work but this was by far and away the cleanest of any I have stayed in, with spacious rooms and a bathroom that would put many four star hotels to shame. I score the room at five because I really have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world but for this lost little hotel, tucked away down a country lane and surrounded by meadows, it really was a treat. Nadia was very patient as I arrived so late and gave me excellent directions. It is not often you can have a genuinely intellectual discussion with the owner, either.
The breakfast is not a cooked one (hence 5, not 6) although the continental breakfast ingredients were good. This is a little hotel I will definitely use when I am next working in this area, and I restate my genuine admiration for the owner and what she is achieving. Well done, Nadia!
nadia was amazing and so helpful would highly recommend staying here she was warming and welcoming and couldnt do enough to help out and make you feel welcome wonderful stay
We received a very warm and friendly welcome, the staff were most helpful.
The rooms were warm and clean and comfortable - all in all very good value for the price.
A nights stay
Very user friendly place with good arrangements for self catering of evening meals.
A lovely location.
Cheap and Cheerful
Good value for money, I ended up having to go in a family room due to a double booking, but it felt a lttle like a dormitory or a youth hostel.
However, it was fairly clean, albeit basic. The bathroom was nice though as it had recently been refurbished, but the room could do with a little decorating and re-designing to make it feel more comfortable, definitely needs new curtains and lampshades!. Nice big flatscreen TV on wall and plenty of tea, coffee, bottled water, biscuits and even crisps. Towels and bedding were nice and fresh and clean. Breakfast, although continental buffet type was very good with lots of choice.
Nice hotel for short stay
Stayed here as a stop over going to London for a meeting.
The hotel is set in a nice peaceful location but unfortunately it is on the flight path to Stansted airport so you might have trouble sleeping if you are a lite sleeper , I am not . Rooms are small but adequate for a short stay, nice and modern with a large bathroom. The curtains let in a lot of light in the morning so again if this disturbs you it might be a problem. I couldn't pick up the wifi on either my phone or laptop but you can get it in the main building. Breakfast was rather basic, a few meats would have have been nice. Nadine is super helpful and a very nice person and very accommodating. All in all a nice place to stay but not long term.
