Reviews - Bryn Melyn Guest House

4Visit Wales Assessed Guest House Ratings explained
Panorama Road, , , Barmouth, LL42 1DQ
High above the Mawddach Estuary, Bryn Melyn Guest House offers a relaxing setting for a short break or holiday. Just ten minutes from the harbour-side restaurants of Barmouth, a charming Victorian seaside town, and yet a world away from everything and everybody. Enjoy far reaching views, comfortable 4-star graded rooms and good hearty food. Watch the wildlife from our panoramic terrace. Explore the stunning landscapes and history of the Snowdonia National Park. Unwind, relax, recharge and expand your horizons. Wales is justifiably famous for its landscape and at Bryn Melyn you are surrounded by the very best that this remarkable country can offer. But you don’t need to go outside to appreciate the landscape...most of our generous rooms feature large picture windows with far-reaching views across the Mawddach Estuary, the Cadair range of mountains and out to sea. All of our rooms are fully en-suite, and have been substantially refurbished during 2010/11. Our comfortable and peaceful lounge is the perfect place to unwind. Maybe sit in the bay window and watch the birdlife, or browse our selection of guide books and maps for ideas. Amuse yourself with our selection of board games and jigsaws. And wash it all down with a drink from our well stocked bar, open every evening and serving a wide range of wines, local beers, spirits and liqueurs. The famous Victorian John Ruskin once said, ‘There is no finer walk in the entire world than from Barmouth to Dolgellau, other than that from Dolgellau to Barmouth’! Walkers have known this for many years and come back again and again to find new paths to explore. But there is so much more to this area than just walking; attractive towns and villages, ancient sites, fabulous beaches, world class tourist attractions, plus a host of activities for all ages and backgrounds. Whatever your interest you’ll want to come back to explore further.

The owners of Bryn Melyn are really friendly and helpful, and seem genuinely happy to help. The things I appreciated most were the advice they were happy to give about walking routes, and the maps available to borrow from the sitting room. I also loved being able to have a hot bath after walking all day. The bathroom was always spotless, and had a choice of about 10 different bubble baths! The breakfast was really nice with lots of choice, the full welsh breakfast, and the vegetarian one were good quality freshly cooked upon order, and not at all greasy! The other nice thing about breakfast is sitting by the window watching the birds eat at the bird feeder. They also provide binoculars by this window, and bird books! The view from our room (no. 9), was amazing, and the location is really beautiful. When we arrived they said 'welcome to the most beautiful place in the uk', and they may have been right! We also slept really well during our stay. The memory foam mattresses were great. I would definitely recommend staying here, and especially if you want a walking holiday as there is so much you can do even without taking out the car!

Customer service very good very welcoming asked if we would like fresh milk in our room for our tea.
Lovely view from our room a little dust in places not enough to bother me or complain.
The bed was not to my liking but when asked she said 99% love the memory foam but its a personal taste not for me I must be the1%
Breakfast was great set us up for the day 100%
Value for money I thought a little over priced.

Bryn Melyn Guest House
Myself and my partner recently stayed at the Bryn Melyn Guest House, and all I can really say is what a great hotel it was. The price of the room itself was very resonable, the view from our room was fantastic, the hotel itself is in a great location situated only 5-10 minutes from the town centre. The welcome we got was lovely the owners clearly take great pride in the business they run. Very friendly people. I'd strongely reccomend staying at this hotel. Thankyou again for a great stay.

Superb Holiday
A wonderful 3 nights b&b. David and Heather treat all their guests as friends and offer loads of information about Barmouth. their hospitality, food, room and scenery are second to none.
A car is needed to access the Bryn Melyn because of steep climb, could be a problem if you have difficulty walking.

The best B&B we've ever stayed at.
This is a brilliant guest house. Everything you could possibly wish for was spot-on during our five night stay in June - July 2014, so I have no hesitation in giving it my highest recommendation.
The only thing to bear in mind is it is up a very steep access road and wouldn't be very easy to get to if you struggle with mobility and/or stairs. But otherwise, the rooms, food, drink, views (and owners!) are all the best you will find.
